  • OS Bubbleless Clunk

Can these be used, left for a month, then re-used again?

Cant see any reason why not, but thought id double check before it goes back in the Srimok.

I dont really want to add a header tank, will the OS bubbleless clunk surfice?

I used a bubbleless clunk that had sat on the shelf for about 3 months. I had major problems with engine overheating and ended up blowing the engine. I never traced the cause of this for sure but the clunk was certainly a suspect as I checked absolutely everything else I could think of and couldn't find a problem. I had cleaned the clunk with alcohol before installing but I did notice (after blowing the engine) that it was fairly hard to blow air through the clunk so I have a slight suspicion that it may have been clogged with fuel/oil residue.

I know lots of people use them with no problems so most likely it would be fine but just thought I'd share this info. I suppose you could take the precaution of always leaving enough fuel in the tank to cover the clunk.

Might just stick it in and try it then

That OMI would be perfect if it had a bit more weight to it, may try adding some lead to it as Mike said first.

If it was in syntheticaly oiled fuel then it should be fine if you have had it left out of fuel for a long time, id flush it through just to clean it first.
Imho if your going to not run a header then the only alternative is a fuel magnet, Lean runs are very difficult to avoid without one or the other.

Exactly why I installed a header, was very nervous flying inverted with just a clunk but since installing the header id be comfotable with inverted till the main tank was almost gone.

Mmmmm. You'll be needing a fuel magnet in the Srimok (that's what I use in mine). If you watch the smack talk vids by bobby and bert they say that the os bubble-less clunk is just a normal clunk and no better and they're sponsored by OS.

Yep- agreed a bubbleless clunk is just that a clunk, I use a header with the bubbleless in it on a very short piece of tube so the clunk is always in the middle of the header tanks, i do notice a difference this way no lean runs and consistent running.

Doh.. I use an OMI fuel magnet, but where it is so light in the fuel the sponge just sticks to the fuel tank in certain orientations.

Is anyone else running an OMI fuel magnet in their Srimok? If so, what clunk line and how long is it?

                    Cheers

                      Hi Paul,

Obviously i dont have a shrimok but would suggest the same rule for all tanks the line should be long enough to reach most parts of the tank but not so it can touch the back corners as it can wedge in them and cause an issue, Not really seen many "sticking" to the tank other than stuck in corners maybe a good cleaning flush through could solve this.

The problem with that method is that the Srimok tank is quite tall, but isnt very wide.

Im going to try some different clunk as the Hayes maybe too thick. I have also been shown the K&S clunk which maybe useful too

                        Cheers.

I have one- an OMI fuel magnet - in my srimok When I originally set up the Heli I overtightened the fuel cap and had the exhaust bubbling away and it was even fine then. I cut the clunk line short enough to spin most places in the tank and put the Heli down when there is 10mm of fuel at the bottom of the tank. Never had an issue.
