Currently Coolpower 12.5%, but seriously considering mixing my own following the recent coolpower fiasco in the UK.
    Cheers

          I use Flair's "Double Orange" which has 10% nitro, 15% ML70 and 75% methanol.

I add in more ML70 to bring it's percentage up to 20.

This now gives 9.41% nitro, 20% ML70 and 70.59% methanol.

Currently thinking about jumping on the bandwagon with regard to mixing my own.

              Hi...
What do you mean by "coolpower fiasco in UK"? Out of stock?
              Thanks

I use Model Technics Formula Irvine Contest 10

As the name suggests it has 10% nitro and is available in UK gallons of 4.55L rather than the american gallon of 3.78L, also being priced at 16.90 per gallon it works out cheaper than most other fuels on the market today.

OK, its got some castor in it and as such the pipes do get a little messy after a couple of months usage but a can of Mr Muscle oven cleaner deals with that little problem nicely in only about 10 minutes. Just spray the foam on, leave it for 10 or so minutes and wipe off with a damp cloth and voila, job done

                Cheers,

                Pete.

Hello Toppo.Your views on coolpower have got me very interested as being a user myself, and to date nothing but praise, wondered if it was perhaps a fact of too much tweaking of the mixture needle that was your downfall.A friend who stripped one of he's old engines down after only using coolpower from the start, was pleased to find the motor still completely as new, with the wear nearly unmeasurable.I may be hasty in this, but my feelings are that there is not a bad fuel out there ,it is merely a case of tuning the engine to match the fuels.

                        cool power

If the fiasco was concerning availablility and supply , then I believe that to be over and the status quo exsists
The concern I have with CoolPower is the reaction you get from the likes of Irvine when you send an engine back which was run on Cool Power- they don't like it AT ALL !!!!
I personally love the stuff but if you err on the lean side with your engines look out!!!
P.S. you need to buy 30% cool power to get 22% oil content then O.S. are happy.

If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!

I personnaly believe it was a case of nit picking by our illustrious OS importer here in the UK. If you look at the manual that accompanies most of the OS range of engines it states that in order for the warranty to be honored the engine needs to be run on a fuel with an oil content of 18% or more.

Most types of fuel actually do have 18% oil, including most of the coolpower range, with the exception of their 15% nitro fuel which has an oil content of around 17%, therefore when mid to late last season many people were returning OS 50's with failed back bearings it was decided that as the oil content of 15% CP was below that stated by OS they could legitimately refuse to honor the warranty and change the bearings FOC.

As you can imagine this created quite a stir, resulting in someone communicating with OS in japan direct, isnt email and the internet a wonderful thing Of couse OS being keen to sooth the fevered brow of their UK customers talked the UK importer into honoring the warranty of OS engines run on 15% CP as other importers around the world were doing and hey presto all is well in the world again

That is until a few weeks later when Robbe UK both underestimated the requirement for CP in the UK and didnt order enough and had a barney with their courier on carrying the stuff and the dangers there of 8O

So having just been told that our warranties will be honered if we run our engines on CP we couldnt get hold of the bloody stuff as no one had any in stock 8O

                          Cheers,

                          Pete.
