  • New 3n1 Perfect Regulator

Perfect Regulator will be launching their new reg at IRCHA this year it is called the Trio. Finally there is a high quality alternative to the Align 2n1. Naturally it will be more expensive than Align.

It is their CCPM reg, remote glow and fail safe switch in one.

Will post back when photos appear.

Well everyone Matt emailed me last night to let me know the Trio is officially for sale. Think i might have to get one for the next build.

This does look interesting. Of particular note is the ability to use 3S lipo for input voltage.
However, further down in the annotations it is recommended that you use 2S for output voltages lower than 7V? I was hoping that the use of a higher input voltage would have allowed for a longer/ lighter packs to be used.
Does anyone know if this is a passive regulator? So is the excess voltage effectively "burnt off"?
          Ade.

Do you guys know if the status LED refers to a battery monitor? (as with the Align 2 in 1) Or is it just a glow status indicator?

while craig did email me to ask the above questions, i also have an account here at rcheliaddict

machasm - yes, the regulator is linear = cleaner voltage output. you can use a 3s no matter what you set the output voltage too, but in return the regulator will run a little warmer, we just suggest to use a 3s when you want to set the output to be that of a fully charged 2s is all.

Mojo - there are 2 leds on the remote switch unit. 1 is green and the other is red. the green led is just status of the regulator being in the on/off state. the red led functions the same as the stand alone push button glow driver and only comes on if the plug is burnt out, have a bad connection and if the plug is starting to go out, the led will start to faintly come on when activated.

i hope this answers the questions at hand

Tempting, shame about having no battery level LEDs or it would be perfect indeed.

Is there a UK street price yet?

yea, we opted not to use any battery monitoring built into the unit. but we are working on a battery monitor that will work with a 2s/3s that would plug into the balance port

oops, forgot about the price. its $130.00 us which equals roughly $97.00 euro

Sorry but I wont be taking this product, I am sure they are fine but my own experience with the current range (had one fall apart in flight) means my views are tainted. to find the unit in two when I picked up the wreckage does not inspire confidence in me.

Rob. I also had a bit of a bad experience with one of the early products but Matt revised the design to better his product. I have two of them now and cant fault them. I cant speak for yours but did you contact him about the fault?

Matt, thanks for answering the questions.

rob - you may have had a very early unit before the heatsink was attached using arctic alumina thermal epoxy.

craig - no prob. forgot i had an account here at rcheliaddict, so i just went ahead and answered the questions at hand
