  • Just a rant

Just a quick rant. Why do we buy cheap stuff knowing its gonna give us head aches? Iv just built my new heli a hk450 pro clone. Now the hk has been good so far ( the screws btw are so much better then the align ones 2mm drive not 1.5) Anyways built the heli with tower pro metal gear servos on the swash. made a really nice job on the wiring.

The thing is powered the heli up today to test every thing and it all went crazy. Turns out the mounting points on the back servo had snaped off. Why the hell has that hapend. Now is this just a crap servo or is something else wrong? Every thing looked perfect all locktighted etc.

Any ways had to strip the heli down again and remove all the servos as i cant trust them now. I have 3 Savox sh-0257's on the way hope these are better and its not something else wrong.

Any one else have tower pro mg servos snap like this ?

Maybe its just that people tend to hope that they will be pleasantly surprised, but know deep down that for that to really be the case it cant really be a common thing.... it wouldnt be that surprising if it happened all the time.

It makes more sense to heed the advice "buy cheap buy twice".
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I found that the plastic used for the cases of the TowerPro SG90 servos used to degrade if touched by threadlocking compound. Usually it took more than one application, but eventually the lug would start crumbling away. Could that be related?

its really strange i cant think that there was that much flex in the frame to rip a servo apart unless the servo really was cracked or split to star with. the mounting point on one side is not there any more

You can damage the serve mount lug by over tightening the screw, did you use the brass insert and the rubber grommet?.
