  • Ys 91 srs

Now that this engine has been out a few weeks, how are those with them finding them for power / tuning / fuel consumption etc. Looking to get an engine for my srimok in next couple of weeks and not sure on which one just yet.

    Have looked at:-

    1) OS 91HZ
    2) Align 91H
    3) YS 91 SR or SRS

From what i have read the OS and the Align are the same engine? the Align engine is quite a bit cheaper though, can get one imported for £176, would stick an MP6 on it for a further £73, so a pretty good deal. My level of flying is sport but would like to progress into some mild 3D. Don't think i will ever be a maniac stick banger like some but it would be nice to perform a few decent manouvres.

    Any other recommendations?

    Steve.

    Hi Steve,

I've been running the SRS for about 3 gallons now. Awesome motor, clean running and little fuss

For info the MP 6 doesn't fit on the YS unfortually.

My choice would be the hatori pipe. You could go for the SB19 which is very expensive or the hatori 946 which Probuild bring in (the same as the SB19 but cheaper) Another alternative is the GP pipes that Midland Heli's sell. I've heard good reports about them too.

In short though, deffo go for the YS. You'll love it
    Cheers Matt

I defected from OS to YS91SR and can honestly say its the best move I ever did in this hobby.

Only downside is you must have a dedicated pipe as the MP6 and other OS pipes are not compatible.

As Mattie say's the Pro-Build version of the SB19 is a very worthwhile purchase.

        Thanks both for replies.

Is it worth having the SRS over the SR for my level?

SRS is the newer version than the SR. Just improved technology and the next stage on. The SR is still
          a very good motor

Can you still get hold of the SR brand new?

I reckon you might find a few around, but the SRS is the new kid in the block.

I believe the SR is discontinued now.

Yes, probuild told me that the SR is discontinued the other week but they will still be selling parts for a long time to come.

Also worth a note that the SB prefix on the hatori pipes are just the initials of the American importer and bear no difference in terms of power than the 9 prefix we get here.

                Apparently anyway

The align engines are rebadged os they just buy shed loads at once.
Wen you buy spare parts for them you get os parts as align do not do the parts for them.

I agree with the above. Although more costly, I would recommend the YS, either the SR or SRS (whichever you can get hold of really).

The GP pipes are supposed to be very good, although only £10 cheaper than the hatori from pro-build i believe.

If you do want the SRS/Hatori combo, give alex from innovation a PM (the guy who often coes to our club) as he has offered club discount on certain parts so worth asking.
Nick bought his SRS/Hatori from Alex aswell.
Remember YS parts are also far cheaper than OS.

I found the os engines more plug and play and the ys seemed a little more involved to get right but is loads better when right.

Oh and the hatori pipes sound better

About one week ago, there was some discussion about Novarossi's spare parts policy. I'd investigate the price / availability of a new piston before considering to buy any of their products.

I understand you have too buy new piston and liner together, about £134 quid, personally would not want to buy separately, so all ok with me....
