  • MK Flyin, a Thankyou

That should read massive thankyou but it doesn't fit on the title. It's always the same you've got so many people to thank and it always starts with I don't know where to start, well I do.

Without you lot we wouldn't have an event, to every single pilot and visitor to our flyin, thankyou. From the nervous first flyin pilots to the 3D sky gods, from the scale guys (okay Pete Christy) to the 64 pilots registered with Tx control 4 of which were lady pilots a massive thankyou.

Our sponsors who exceeded all previous generous donations with a line up of fantastic prizes for the raffle a massive thankyou.

I personally met some fantastic people, Pete Christy first time and I certainly hope not the last, I was bowled over by his enthusiasm and stories about his models, an absolute pleasure. Trillian, a lady that made it to the flyin with a 90 in her bag and everything that goes with it, halfway on a train from central London and the rest with the generosity of an RCHA member, Jesus! Rachel, the first pilot up this morning and again an absolute heli nut, good pilot too. Stu Smith and his brother Adie, 2 of the nicest fellas you could meet and my 2nd favourite pilot in the UK. I could ramble all night but I'll not except for a special mention for 2 of the biggest fellas in the hobby, Matt Lodge and Richie Clarke, both being pilots extraordinaire but much more. Matt along with Jason Platts spent most of the afternoon taking 2 pilots through their B certs, not doing his own thing doing something for someone else. Richie spent most of the afternoon entertaining the crowd with some fantastic flying capped off with some fantastic autos which were the roundly booed by the Midland boys. The autos got better and better, but he was still booed, they had found someone who could be egged on, absolutely hilarious. I think he did get the joke in the end and an auto from a few inches got the cheers and applause the others deserved. I don't know what it is but you meet anyone off here and it's like you've known them for years. It is the first flyin where I've felt the comraderie.

Lastly, I must mention the superb 4 man displays put on by Rob Turnbull, Edders, Jason Platts and Pete (Ayriss I think). Has to be seen to be believed, the tail slides all together and the tick tocks with a heli at all 4 points was fantastic.

No, this is definitely me done, the pylon racing was again superb, again won by Bob Johnston who gave his prize for winning back to the raffle, thankyou and Rob Turnbull. Someone has to knock them off the top.

No, this is definitely the last, the last demo flight was our very own Duncan, a fantastic flight to music, yes it was Muse but out of this world nevertheless.

I've missed people out I know but thanks to you all.

We would like to ask for something in return though, was there anything you'd like us to do different? Was the Tx control okay, did it work for you, was the PA okay, the cooking, breakfast, anything that you thought we could do better/differently. We want next years to be even better, bigger, we got 64 pilots on the book today, our best yet, but we want more.

It was an amazing day, very well done!

Although a louder PA and more spacing between the flying posts (or just removing in-between ones) would be much more ideal I feel. You can hardly fly left and right when others are around.

Just want to thank you all at MK club for a great flyin this weekend!

The whole day (and from what I could see the whole weekend) went so smoothly. Special thanks to the guys(and gals) doing the barbecue and in the caravan/hut supplying us with cold drinks. You guys are always so friendly and helpful.

I didn't think the PA was an issue, probably just speaker placement really. Maybe spread them out a bit more next time.

Personally I couldn't fault any of it. Can't wait till next year!

Many many thanks to ALL of you!

The PA was the first time we've used one and was a bit of an experiment. We didn't want to annoy the farmer but we've got plenty of time now to work on the volume and speaker placement.

Probably can't do too much with the peg width Laurence, your flying is good enough to cope with it

I cant think much to improve, it was a very well hosted event, very warming and relaxed atmosphere.
                  There was food
                  laughs
                  good flying
                  booing
                  crashes
                  and
                  a very suspicious raffle

                    Hi Guys,

Well after the most tiring day I've ever had in my life at work, now I finally get time to sit down and type a few words about the MK flying.

First of all to Waveydavey, thanks for your kind comments dude it means a lot . It was real good to finally meet you, be it brief but it was a pleasure.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Miltons Keynes model club for putting this superb event on. This really has to go all the people behind the scenes that work bloody hard and get least credit. What particularly stuck in my mind was the chap (sorry i don't know his name) that came round with a massive water bottle full of blackcurrent squash offering out free drinks to everyone. This obviously was a sign of the club really looking after their guests and considering their well being in the hot temperatures, You guys are the real stars of the day..........Thank you sooooo much !!!!

This thanks has to go to the 'UK heli Clan' By this I mean all of the heli guys i've meet along the way. We all know who you are ......... 'everybody'

What a bloody scream we had yesterday. These meets are laterally getting bigger and better as they go on. All day I've been giggling at the antics that went on throughout the day. Then who would of thought we'ed end up sitting out side of the smallest KFC in the world doing the Mexican wave to every car that came along at 10 o'clock on a Sunday evening stone...cold...sober!!!!!!. (Hopefully there will be the video of this to follow )

The day was awesome, one down side as everyone has pointed out we have to wait another year for the next one

                    Thanks again all

PS: The heli flying was good too
                    Cheers Matt

I agree, but didnt you used to have some flying the Friday as well Dave? I'd take the Friday off work and start a day earlier if that was an option.
