  • Soviet RC heli modelling in the early 1980s...

    I was chatting with a planker friend of mine over skype yesterday, and we were going though interesting heli videos on YouTube when he told me about this one:

    Radio control championships in the Soviet Union, 1982:

    I didn't realise that the Soviets allowed people to do RC. It must have been interesting to fly those models, doubtless without even a tail gyro. The most exciting manoevre of that era seems to be a pirouette :-)

            Great vid! There's one or two occasions where I can't believe they continued trying to fly - the helis were shaking themselves to bits.
