  • When is a crash not a crash?

Found a nice new field to fly my blade 400 closer to home today.

Lost orientation as the model went over my head and went into the long grass at quite a shallow angle but at a fair speed.

Oh dear I thought, won't be flying that for a while and bolders* is going to be miffed!

Went to pick it up and thought it strange that the blades were still in tact and nothings fallen off.
Checked it over carefully and couldn't find any damage what so ever.
After a quick rest to calm my nerves I span it up and finished off the battery.

So are we counting this as a crash or not? lol

PS. A BIG thank you to bolders for fixing my blade and getting it into the air again.

*bolders kindly fixed my blade when I'd given up hope of getting it flying again

Nah, that's not a crash just a heavy landing

Well done to bolders for helping you out btw. Top man

        In airline operations:

A good landing is defined as one in which the passengers and crew leave the aircraft without injury.

A great landing is defined as one in which the aircraft can be flown again.

its only a crash if you meet x2 requirements.

          1. Bits fly off
          2. You were actually trying something or actually flying

          As my signature says \/

OK so what is it called when you have a heavy landing (or park in a tree or bush....) and nothing has fallen off, but some (important) bits are bent?

It depends if my wife is watching (rare but it has happened).

If I'm on my own and gravity wins, then its officially a crash because its going to cost money to repair, sometimes quite a lot of money.

However, if my wife happens to see me crash, then officially its just a minor bump (even if the heli is spread over a large area), this is because the repair costs will only be a couple of quid - max.

I have a feeling others may share this approach.

              Cheers,
              Simon

No that's not a crash it's just a very lucky heavy landing, a crash is going to mean you have got to spend some money on new parts and you have bent it good a proper.

Oh Yes, but if your like me - a couple of quid is a couple of hundread.

Begs the question, how many peoples .90s on here cost only a few hundread quid as well

                  come on . . . . be honest

Looks like people are too afraid of their wives seeing their reply on this thread.

Not me, when on holiday last year my wife was filming the kids when I crashed my blade inverted into a tree.

My response was very blue, my wife was "and how many pairs of shoes could I have brought for that toy".

                      TOY!!!!!

According to my wife, no crash costs more than £20, shes happy with that, it would be a shame to upset her
