The Canon 1DMkIII is a "Pro" bodied camera Ben.
The EOS500 is more designed for the amateur user at more than half the price.
Not that I'm a professional or anything..

Bloody he'll if that's only a amateur camera lol but then I know nothin at all about photography. My point and shoot produces some excellent pics bit I like to play with the guys cams at the field and now my mum has got a canon eos 500 and it looks well complicated lol.
I'll stick with my point and shoot for now me thinks.

The EOS 500D, if that's what it is, is a great camera. You can get cracking shots with it for sure.
Tim's kit is serious pro kit and, perhaps more importantly than his pro body is the pro glass he puts on the front, would you agree,Tim?
You can have the best body in the world but if you hang poor glass from it, your shots may, and I mean may (you might get lucky) not be anything like as as sharp.
