  • 550 3g setup

Going to test fly 550e with
    3g flybarless after work!
anything I should keep an eye on with the setup?
Ive set +/- 12 on pitch and 12 degrees on all
cylics running 25% expo on rudder aileron and elevator.
    Any tips apreciated

Just double check the swash is moving the correct way when tilting the heli, a guy came to our field last week and tipped his over first flight as the aileron function was the wrong way on the 3G unit.

I've found 12 degrees of cyclic is really OTT (at least it is for me) but you should be fine as you have expo. I don't use expo on the rudder, this is already built in to the gyro and makes it too slow for me - obviously this depends upon personal preference.

First flight I had a bit of trepidation prior to lifting off. I managed to basically not put any cyclic input in while still on the ground, I just waited until it got light on the skids, then rose a foot or so off the ground, it just sat there at this point and was spot on.

I'd make sure you have at least 75% throttle at hover, if you use a normal pitch curve, otherwise it will nod it's head. I've got idle up 1 at 85-80-85 with +/-12 degrees pitch, idle up 2 at 95-90-95 and +/-14 degrees pitch but it's nice enough in idle up 1, flybarless keeps the cyclic as lively as you want. I've also got my throttle hold curve at +/-14 degrees and it actually auto's quite well although as soon as the heli is on the ground I pull the stick down into negative pitch, trying to 'float' it by feeding in pitch can cause it to tip over as headspeed decays.

I'm having an absolute blast with mine and it's the heli that gets flown the most during a session.
