Phil, there's nothing particularly wrong with the 3G tail gyro - it flies pretty well and, as with the 401, most people simply will not out-fly it, but some might.
It isn't the best tail gyro available, so it depends if it's good enough for what you want out of the model.
If you want better performance, fit a better tail gyro.
Cheers,
Rob
Hmmm! Not convinced sorry!
Just fit a V-Bar and it works, seems pointless messing around with something that half works. Especially when you extol it's virtues on here and then proceed to fit another gyro because it's not really up to the job
Being totally honest I really can't tell the difference between Spartan, 520, V-Bar and 720 but then thats me and I'm quite happy to say so. If I had to choose it would be the 720 but I can't honestly tell you why...
When good quality flyers come on here and rave about something and then in the background fudge it but don't actually say what they are doing or why they are doing it and it just comes to light later it annoys me, sorry but that's me and I'm sure others feel the same but are less battle hardened to come out and call a spade a spade

Just got home now after an epic journey........... Was a laugh but bloody long......
Dropped in at Fastlad and Midlands on the way back for a bit of shopping. Mat, Rob and the rest of the Midland crew thanks for making us feel really at home. Rob the cup of Tea was second to none.......Mat I want your Aurora
Phil,
As for the Align 3G system, I thought it was 'OK' actually. Surprising better than I guessed it was going to be. I've flown the 3G on the 550 and was fairly impressed but wasn't that happy with the tail although I didn't spend loads of time with it to see if it could get better.
I'm personally not bigging it up, however I'm a real great believer in this hobby evolving and to do this we have to communicate with our thoughts on different products.
Glad you like your v-bars. I know they are really good too
Back to the thread, yet another great two days in the Heli community BIG SMILES
Matt and Richie both came to the Grass Roots comp and didn't really speak to them, Mattie a bit but Richie went out of his way to thank our Chairman for hosting the event, you can't get better than that in my book. Top blokes.

Not up to the job for me...
I preferred the piro's of the CSM, as I piro a lot and demand a lot from the tail of the helicopter.
If you (or any other users) don't, the 3G gyro will do the job just fine.
I think it's really quite simple
I'm not knocking the 3G system - it works well. I just personally found the tail wanting, being a big fan of the CSM 720.
Oh, and no need to apologise... it doesn't matter if you're convinced or not
Just the facts as I see them
Cheers,
Rob
What a brilliant evening i had.. I am actually still buzzing, and it has made my week, not the usual Monday night for me
Thanks Tim for the invite and i am glad i was able to make it.. Great company, a few tanks of the red stuff and a great meal to finish with.. One would be mad to turn it down
Richie and Mattie, its always great to see you guys and spend time with you and watch you fly.. And to add to Mattie's comment about your flying Tim, i like the new moves!! There's always something new from Busterboy
And thanks Mattie for the kind words.. I guess going to a bunch of flyins and events and seeing so many brilliant pilots has inspired me lately and i have to add that since i got the 700 (although it still intimidates me a bit) has given me a level of confidence, it just flies so well!!
Thanks Tim again and hope to see you guys again soon
Great to see you for an 'all too brief' evening last night. Matt called yesterday morning and said "do you fancy popping up to Tims for a fly this evening?". How could I refuse
We got to Tims and had a great session, with the added bonus of the amazing Mojo turning up. Plus Carl who Tim flies with regularly. Loads of flights and banter later we packed up and had a lovely meal at Tims favourite(and mine) chineese.
Loved every minute Tim and thanks for your hospitality once again.
Anyway just got back and pretty knackered but was great to pop in at Midland Helis on the way back and see Rob, Splat, Trevor and Noel. I soo wish they were a bit closer, top lads!
Not from where I stand, just asking questions from Joe Normals POV rather than the Clique Club
Was purely a point of fact that the 3G had been pushed and applauded but the fact that people weren't actually using it "out of the box" was not really pointed out for possible adopters
