Have you got a sim? Personally i dont think you really need to go down that path.If youve got tail in hovering down then all you need to do is move the tail round a little bit each time until you end up side in.
do this on both sides then when youve got that nailed you can try nose in.
Although i reckon you would find it easier to go nose in, rather than moving the tail round bit at a time from side in to nose in.
Lazy eights are good to practice before trying nose in.
But the best way to learn all this would be with a sim ,but thats just my opinion

I say all this but i dont know what stage your at with your flying lol.

I got to that point were i thought about lessons on a buddy lead, but in the end just took it really slowly. do not listen to people who tell you try this or that, just do what you feel comfortable doing don't try to run before you can walk, unless you are on the sim, i got used to side on both ways then slowly started slow fig 8s, still can't do nose in but i do feel its coming together, in my time, it's not a race some people will get it sooner than others but it don't matter. don't use a sim very much at the moment although i probably will try it soon when i start doing some basic 3d. i have found out if you get into trouble get some height try to get used to flying further away thats what i am doing at the moment, at the end of the day you want to be enjoying flying like i said earlier it's not a race, one day it will just click and you will wonder why it took so long, just enjoy nice and easy does it.

I do lessons Chris if that would be of interest to you at all drop me a pm Chester is not that far from Telford its about 45 miles.
Lessons can be a very funny thing and its all really down to attitude and expectations, Sometimes i advise people to have a "taster" session to see if its the right path for there individual progression as we are all different.

I carn't do nose in yet can do bit on the sim.The problem is the left to right is my the weak side and thats all I try practise on the sim.
I bought a cheap 450 clone copterx just to crash (bits are cheap) this has helped alot.
I have routine sim,sim,450,450 and then raptor I done a few messy 8s with the 450 and tried the raptor 30 and smashed it up.2nd time in 2 years so dont feel too bad i knew it was coming.
I think i know where it's going wrong as i come round left to right I seem to be pull back so i lose foward speed then it gets messy and throu in a right turn until tail in.
I just get bit fed up I started back in 2006 and still not got much further than a hover until i got the 450 couple months ago.

I can hover side on left and right all day long after 4 years I thought I should be able to do some forward flight LoL

I did pretty much the same as Derrick, I had a Twister 3D storm which is quite lively as a starter model and a Shuttle which is not 3D at all, but I also found that the shuttle was allways so much easier to learn with.

Did all my hovering and lazy eights with it before moving on to a Raptor that is capable of doing more.

I honestly found a 30 size, more sedate model easier to master the basics than a twitchier 450 size, I think sometimes a lot of people overlook the shuttle as it is predominantly a trainer and not a blinged 3D stunt machine but I found it really fit for purpose in getting me into this hobby in the first place, dont know what others think ?
