  • Optifuel 30% slv

Ok. At wings and wheels on Saturday and the man with the beard at the optifuel stand convinced me to take 5l home with me saying that I'd notice more of a difference in performance of the 30%slv to the 30% normal than I did moving from 20% to 30%.

    He didn't lie.....

This makes my trex 600 with an os50 and align pipe perform like it never has before. ( used 20% optimix before).

Now that's all I have to do is work out what to do with the 40 litres of 20% that I have at home.

    Lol

I spoke to Andy from Optifuel (He talks wayyy more than me)

We had a long discussion about fuels and oils.

He will be coming on the show when i can get organised

Any questions any of you folks want answered?

Why does the SLV change from a lovely bright colour to something resembling cats urine?

For the most part, it doesn't (I've not had any do it yet, and I've have a few cases so far).
However, I spoke to Andy today to get some factual info about why this might happen, and there was a fairly lengthy conversation as a result - the shortened version is...

The barrels that the Klotz oil arrives in are painted inside and outside. In the barrels of oil that were received for the pre-prdocution run of fuel, they have found paint chips on the inside of the barrel. This has allowed a reaction to occur where the UV stabiliser additives in the oil become unstable. Obviously all of the ingredients are filtered in OptiFuels production system so ensure impurities are removed. It hasn't affected the fuel in any way other than the colour fading.
This should not be occuring in production fuels now, but they are checking everything to make sure.

As a side note, the colour is just a pigment added to the oil package and has no bearing on the performance of the fuel - as shown by all the clear fuel used by the pilots during the testing phase, at which point Klotz had not added any pigment to the oil package OptiFuel have developed with them.

I hope that sheds some light on it
            Cheers,
            Rob

That's what I was gonna say

I did have one of my bottles lose its colour slightly and Andy told me the same thing.

Certainly didn't affect performance in any way, the stuff is AWESOME
