  • Nano tec batterys?????

Just seen this on hobbycity website

    HobbyKing Online R/C Hobby Store : Turnigy nano-tech 2650mah 3S 35~70C Lipo Pack

35c with 70c burst, not bad for $22.99

Apparantly built with an LiCo nano-technology substrate complex greatly improving power transfer making the oxidation/reduction reaction more efficient, this helps electrons pass more freely from anode to cathode with less internal impedance.
In short; less voltage sag and a higher discharge rate than a similar density lithium polymer (non nano-tech) battery.

Might give them a go and see what there like...

Yep been watching these ones for my Logo 400/600

They are their new ones in line with the Hyperions etc that have been touting this Nano wotsit for a while now.

    Well priced still

Nano technology for lipo - well as far as I know it has been just developed and marketed by a company in US. They're the guys working at MIT/ Harvard. ...but so soon got transferred to China?? I've my doubt, I'm afraid.

Cobalt is a very expensive metal - so the price does not reflect it...

Note also that some are 8C charging!!!
..going to have to carry a cool box soon...take longer to cool down than charge..

I would want some real user feedback before commiting myself for now I am happy with their normal lipos but as I am mainly an electric flier now it's great to see the continued improvement in lipos in general and the lowering of prices

I suspect the term 'Nano' in this case refers to the manufacturing process of the substrate itself using a nm (Nanometer) process such as Intel and AMD use to manufacture their CPUs as opposed to nano machines just being developed.

Wow looking at the link they are quoting max charge rate as 10C. Thats 6 minutes to charge a battery. Soon you will be able to charge a battery as quickly as you can flatten it . Trouble is your gonna need a bloody big charger as you need 22A at 10 C

Hyperion duo is rather 180watts per channel.. so easy to do a pair of 2200's at 8C..

It's the 12S stuff that you're gonna plug directly across the HT lines of the local substation for a few seconds to recharge that'll be fun

Here is more on Nanotechnology based LiPo cells:

"In November 2005, A123Systems announced a new higher power, faster recharging lithium-ion battery system based on doped nanophosphate materials licensed from MIT".

More in this link about fast charging capabilities :
