  • Tracking problems with Align Yellow&Black carbons

    Hi,

I use the yellow and black Align carbon blades because they're cheap and robust.

Noticed the other day that the tracking was out, which seemed strange. Replaced the bushes incase they were worn and re-set the tracking.

Took it for a whizz, just doing circuit flying in normal mode which has max throttle at 85% - makes for a nice gentle model. Tracking was fine.

Did a second battery, this time used idle up which has more aggressive settings and did a few loops and stall turns - got the blades beating the air a few times. This time when hovering I could see that the tracking had gone out by a good 4-5mm.

These blades are quite an unusal shape anyway - they come out the box slightly bananna shaped and are quite flexible.

Does it seem there's a problem somewhere, or am I just pushing what these blades are capable of?

    Thanks,
    Matthew

are these the align plastic blades with a carbon spar in them? if so they're totally useless. i binned mine when i bought them a few years ago. if you're after cheap blades the 3d blades conceptcopters sell would be much better and quite cheap. Concept Copters Ltd - 450 sized FRP main blades (325mm) fiberglass ones would be fine for you

Thats them....I think as 'beginners' blades they're far better than Align's wooden ones and alot cheaper than the posh CF ones that come with the heli. I have had sets survive brutal crashes.

Are Concept copters carbon blades good? Can afford the extra fiver :-)

Yeah the white '3D' blades are pretty good and I just recently got a pair of black carbon blades by 'Tarot' that are quite nice. They look a bit like small NHP carbons and are light and very rigid, they balanced perfectly out of the box and have tons more punch over the Align black and yellow blades.

I think you'll find that in addition to tracking properly they will feel much more 'crisp' and punchy, almost like having more power (well at least that's the impression I got with my stock 450SE motor).

I hope so....My other 450 sport is in Luxembourg so I don't get to play with it much - its had its maiden flight, but wasn't that well set up.

Last week I had a chance to tinker with it and I hit the throttle not expecting much and it zipped upwards at a very pleasing rate of knots.

I use these on my blade 400 and they seem to work pretty well but tbh I have not got much to compare them too but tracking etc is all spot on.

I ordered 2 pairs of these and both sets were quite a bit out of balance (no i did not get the two sets mixed up lol ). I had to apply a fair bit of tape to get the balance but this has not created any problems.

I assume the blades are matched at the factory by weight alone as I weighed both sets of blades on a set of accurate scales and the weight of both blades of the set were very similar

The blades turned up less than 24 hours after I ordered them. Only had a quick try in the garden and sorted the tracking in one turn of a linkage.

Seem perfectly good so far :-)
