  • Best budget cyclic servos for a 450

OK guys, I'm looking for a few recommendations for the best budget cyclic servos to put on my T Rex 450
Up till now I have been using the Tower Pro cheapies, and I must say, they have served me well, but that was mostly for normal hovering, circuits and forward flight etc.
Problem is I have recently started doing more and more flips, stall turns and inverted stuff and have found that a couple of my servos have become notchy and now one of them has started sticking completely (Not good )
Now I don't know if all these elevator and aileron flips Im doing are putting an extra load on the servos but I thought it was about time for me to upgrade a bit anyway. I'm sure there must be some good cyclic servos out there that still fall in the budget range What do you suggest ?

The whole point of the hxt servos is to chuck them when they wear or the gears strip.. at a couple of squid a pop it's hardly stressful on the wallet...

What sort of budget are you looking at mate.

They are not exactly budget (£57) but a bulk buy of some hitec HS65s would do you a treat. I run them in my 450 V2 and although I have nothing to compare them to they feel really good and precise to me

      Fast Lad Performance

or if you want to keep the costs lower the HB version are £44 which works out about £14.50 each

      Fast Lad Performance

      go on treat ur heli

        Well that's really helpful
I aware of how very cheap the Tower pros are, and as I said up till now they have served me well. But these ones have worn out very quickly and I wondered if my recent slightly more vigorous flying has contributed to this.
Hence the question about a reasonably priced upgrade.

obviously misunderstood..I stuck the MG90S into my pro clone build..sorta blew the budget at $5 each..but not flown them that long. All I can say is that the arms are a bit short for a pro build but would be fine on a v2 clone and they can take a decent crash without stripping.. and seem to centre quite well

              Cheers bolders,
Yeah that's the sort of thing although I really am on a very tight budget So if there's anything even cheaper that would be good
Having said that I dont want to waste money on what might be a false economy if you see what I mean.

Phoenix Model Products Hitec Analogue Servos

                Hitec HS-65MG at £16.50 each.

It really is false economy paying out for cheap servos. The 65MG has been the staple diet of 450 flyers for like ever.

It's a bit early to tell yet but so far the Emax servos I'm using in my 450 are working really well. They have less travel for the same settings vs the HS55's I replaced so had to adjust the swash mix and stuff but they feel very smooth. They are metal gear so should hold up better than the tower pros in a crash (they have survived one crash already).

And I think they are about a fiver each (I think I got them at GC).

Without doubt HS65's MG is norm and the Budget Choice is the HB version which are just as good imho better! and cheaper

I'd say stick with Tower Pro - I have used MG90 for the best part of a year and they have survived more crashes than i have fingers and they still keep trucking.

                        and only £6ish a pop

were pretty good, stats looks better than hs65's, and cheaper, metal gears, and only 10.99 each

I fell on hard times and bought the emax metal geared servos for my 450pro the ailerons were perfect but the back one was a little shorter then hi tec hs65 so had to alter the frame a little but they move quick and feel solid enough and for £15 for 3 not a bad price at all , we'll see how they take some punishment
