  • E-sky Power Pylon flying..

Hey folks, I was looking over the web for a "next step" heli for my mate and stumbled across this video which made me cringe a little... Flying helis near/underneath Power Pylons just can't be a good idea....
    YouTube - Honey Bee CP3 @ RC-Fever.com!

On the other hand I might just recommend one of these little Esky Honey Bee CP3 helicopters to my mate. For £78 it might be a pile of S**t but it also might be an acceptable stepping stone. Lets hope it ain't too shocking eh!

Forgive me mate but Im just thinking out loud here: Why dont you suggest an SR (Blade) or a Raptor 30? Then again Ross, Im thinking of the possible reasons for your mate NOT to be interested...

Blade SR: Can be a good "next step" heli, provided the Tx is changed - and that means more cash - and that means running out of the budget?!

Raptor 30: The whole 'not ready for the NITRO' - thing? (and/or wayy out of budget)?!

[I use the term budget here very loosely, relative to the £78 mentioned earlier mate]
Correct me if Im wrong Ross...

        Exhibiting good electrostatic suppression there.

He could rig an induction pick-up and charge his lipos while he flies.

The ESky CP2 was the nastiest piece of helicopter-shaped tat I've touched.

Do you reckon they've improved it much in one revision?

Do him a favour and suggest something flyable :-)

lol ok guys, thanks for the input.
I was tempted to suggest the Blade SR but it's more than twice the price.... The CP3 is a completly new design to the CP2 (doesn't mean it's good though )

The cost is a big factor and as much as I'd like to recommend him to get a Raptor30/50 It just seems a BIG jump in both cost and skill from a lama V3 I have already recommended he gets a spektrum handset if he really wants to get into the hobby a bit more seriously. I was thinking the BLade SR would be ok but i think his budget would stretch to mini titan/T-rex 450 but maybe opt for a second hand machine off this forum

I've gone from my Blade mCX Co-ax to a Blade mSR FP.
              Small enough to practise indoors.

The mCX practically flies itself but the mSR, though stable, does require significantly more input to control.

The big step for me will be the move to CP when it comes.
Probably a 450 of some kind, Mini Titan or TRex most probably.

The smaller CPs all appear to be that little bit more difficult to learn on, or so I've learned from reading about them.
So, going on the experience of others, I think a 450 will be the way to go next.

The Esky Honey Bee cp3 was a great little heli, i had one once before, but sold it the other day.

The heli's tail didnt start wagging until the tail motor was about 3 months.

The heli did barrel rolls fine, never properly attempted inverted, but im sure that would have been fine.

                It could almost do loops.

I could do blade stops with it from quite a hieght, but once the blades striked the tail boom when i tried this.

                Cant do auto's

Personally, i would say the heli is much better than what it looks like in the videos.
