  • Woohoo, heli is working well

Installed new gyro last night, got a kds800, nearly got a used futaba 401 but sale fell through, ds520 set up and tail linkage now has carbon tube on it, and all is good, just had it's first hover since the changes, although a little windy, gyro set to 75% on dx6i, don't know if this is good????

Tail did hold solid as a rock and didn't change in the wind(it was a bit windy in the garden!!)

happy as larry, a big thanks to all you guys that have helped and pointed me in the right direction, now it's just practice, practice and more practice, love it!!!!

Next questions from me on here will be how to repair everything from crashes lol,

Not on topic this but hey, it was my thread haha... How do you make a correct turn with a heli? Been trying loads on Phoenix and normally ends with a crash!!

Well done on getting your heli sorted Kev mate! and to the question you have asked above...To turn you need to input aileron in the same direction as you do rudder....for example to turn right you input right aileron and right rudder.Hope that helps,Just practice on the simulator mate and you will get it eventually.

              Cheers Grant.

Told you you'd like the gyro. Not bad for £20 are they. Nice and easy does it Kev, don't take it home in a carrier mate.

Yes mate, gyro seems super for the price, held the tail better than anything I've used so far, although I have spent time also setting the tail up correctly!!

Does 75% gain seem ok for hh on this gyro mate?

I'm not that high. I've got a DX6i and it's on 62%. The best way to do it is give the tx to adie or someone else who can fly and let him hover it for you, gradually lift the gain until you induce a wag then back off say 5% from that figure. Every setup is different so it's subjective mate.

That seems like a reasonable setting. It will vary from heli to heli even with the same gyro and tail servo due to all the things that affect it.

The 401b in my GL450 is at 66% right now, but those are just numbers. As long as you have good hold and no wagging or bounce then it's cool.

How comfortable are you with orientations? You should really be happy with side/nose/tail in before moving to forward flight. Baby steps my friend, you'll get there
