  • Havent flown in 9 months - crapping it a bit!

    Hi all,

last year I got into heli flying and moved from a blade 400 (since sold) to a TREX500, and on the way had a Blade MSX for indoor playing.

However I moved house in September and every single living moment since then I've been doing stuff on it, and finally its getting to the point where I can get flying!

I want to play more before going with the 500 and also liked the MSX for practising nose in etc, but it was far too tame.

Thinking of getting another indoor heli to ease me back in, and also so i can play more indoors in the much larger house - I've seen the MSR, but dont want another super tame thing I'll be bored with.

Any suggestions or thoughts on an indoor heli that is a challenge, but also wont rip into my new painted walls?!

Cheers all, looking forward to flying - although not the fixing - again!!

If you've had fun playing with helis' wait until you've seen some fish swimming! Wooo Haa!

    Go the msr....!!

Good fun you will probably be bored in about a month or 2 but at least you can get some flying in until then...

I know it's a bit more expensive, but you could go for a 4#3 or a 4#6 from walkera, more challenging than the msr, the only downfall is you can't get them in bind and fly version, you have to use the standard walkera tx,

there is also Phoenix to sharpen your skills up again

Ok cool, I looked @ the walkeras and my only fear was they may cause a little too much damage - also not using my dx7 would be a shame.

Looks like my brain is saying thanks and my wallet not - time to go shopping!

            Hiya,

yea I've got Phoenix, however I never enjoy it that much compared to the real thing. Also I have more trouble on phoenix than flying lazy slow 8's on the trex - I've tried tuning the models but its still not perfect.

Ideally I want to play a bit with the small one, then start the process of tail in, side on, front hovering on the trex and back up to 8's again.

This time around though i do think im going to get some lessons to push me a long a bit further

cheers all for the replies, nice to be back

                Hi all,

thanks for the help on this, the MSR arrived today!

First thing it did was prove my DX7 battery was pants, as after charging it lasted for 2 mins making the heli go nuts - thank buggery I'd not given the TREX500 a test flight - new NiMh on the way!

Second thing (after going with a slower charge on the nimh) was have a play around the kitchen, and first thoughts were that this is too tame - pretty much the same as the MSX

However... after dialling in lots of Expo its a lively little thing now! Great fun flying around the front room at pretty quick speeds, and is doing exactly as I needed - helping my practise those 'oh sht, its going waaay the wrong way' moments and getting me quicker at fixing them, and most importantly not crashing!

                Thanks again
