  • Dope Of The Week Awards

    Hi All

Thought I would suggest this thread as I'm probably going to get the first Gong for what I've just done at my flying site.

Parked up and with the equipment box in one hand and lifting thee 500 off the back seat with the other I shoved the car door with my knee to shut it.

Can still hear it now that Clunk / Crunch sort of noise as the door bounced back open having jammed the heli tail in the door

Luckily no major damage but heli wasn't flyable at that point and needed some TLC back in the Heli A&E (Shed).

Some of my prior incidents that would have merrited this award:

Arriving at the field and finding your radio was left on in the case and is now deader than a dead thing!

Or even better opening the case to realise the radio is still on charge at home!

How about putting the wrong (Already Used) Lipo in you heli and wondering why it's falling out of the sky?

Oh Dear I think I'm going to shut up now

Anyone better my stupid errors, please don't nominate anyone else as we don't want animosity even if they are a quirk in the gene pool, that's for them to announce

    John

how about; packing your gear in the car and drive off to the field at 7:30am only to hear a 'thud'..

...then having to go back a few hundred metres to pick your 450 Pro off the deck! Shouldnt have left it on the roof..

Forgetting to flick into idle up before going inverted is my most recent dumb moment.

Touch wood but I haven't done any daft things like that yet! I remember a certain well known member on here reversed over a heli once though

Gone out to the flight line and taken off, only then to notice that I had forgotten to fuel up first. That was a long walk back to the pits.

I won't mention Ash's name, but I know someone who keeps reversing over his helis in a hurry to get back home...

I've never ever EVER started the engine on my nitro, then realized that I've forgot to switch the electrics on...

Thought this was the best place for this -

Went out this morning for a quick fly about at the car park just down the road, as I was putting the battery in the 500 I got a call of nature so thought I will just fly this battery quickly then head home again.

Spun the heli up to mid stick to a point where it got light on the skids, it then tipped right and trashed the blades while leaving a neat white Doughnut as seen in the picture, I shrugged my shoulders and thought I'll check it out at home.

Disconnected the battery and then as I was switching radio off I saw on the display "600" dooohhh so much for rushing eh! wrong darn model

Ive had a few iffy moments from rushing out after work and bashing the 450 on every obstacle until I reach the front door to setting the servos up to 90 at low stick.
But the ones that really got my heart going was a hot start with the 600 to almost a cut out mid air during some flips because of low fuel.
The pro's out weigh the cons with flying though.
                              Gota love this hobby.
