  • i cant decide...

hi guys, after listening to advice from adieuk and 3d basher(thanks guys) I have decided to sell my present, 450 which i bought of damn ebay, as it needs to much doing, including new servo's, gyro etc etc...

I cant decide though on what to do next, another used heli, but something bigger like raptor 30 or 50, or buy a align450 sport super combo for £300, around £300 would be my budget at the moment.

I know what adie and lee(3dbasher) have advised, but also like to hear many opinions, (I have listened to both there opinions so no disrespect intended to you 2 guys)

    thanks for any help
    Kev

Somehow, If I know adie right, he should have advised you a Trex 600N
I personally think the 600 would be a very good heli mate. You dont have to go for the bling bling hi spec version mate Kev, even a 600 Nitro Sport (with the belt drive would do). You can learn on that and use it as your 'beater' machine.... Annnnddd... it flies excellent!

Another option what you could consider is a RAPTOR 30/50. No disrespect to those machines, they are absolutely fantastic to learn on, from what Ive known, but TBH, i think you will reach a stage where you would want to get yourself a 600 mate. You might as well just get it now.

Anyways... all in all, my suggestion (as well) - An Align Trex 600 Nitro.
(You can get one from about £350 or so mate and they would be very low in repair costs...)

Whatever decision you make mate, remember at the end of the day, this is a hobby and the 'whole thing' is supposed to keep you relaxed.

AND USE THAT PHOENIX SIM THAT YOU'VE GOT KEV!!!!!!!

              Kev,

I know money is a bit tight at moment but if you buy and old Raptor 30/50 and that's what you'll have - an old Raptor. You'll not be happy with that.

Jason says you can buy an old 600N for £350. You can but again that's what you'll have an old 600. Plus with these Nitros you'll need more than the heli - by the time you have the old 600, have bought a starter, a 7 channel receiver (run 6 at your peril), fuel and the other gear, it will be nearer £500.

I know the lads at the field, particularly Lee all love the nitros, as I do, but you are just setting out and need something you can practice with in the back garden and field behind your house as well.

My honest opinion is that you should stick with electric for now - like my 500 (ha ha).

Don't be hasty with your decision - you've done that once already.

Dave .. where do you get running 6 channel rx " at your peril from " ?? ... one of mine runs a 6 channel rx fine .. and yes I have a gov on it as well

If your learning I would not recommend flying on your own n e way and half the time theres others there with a starter that you could use till you bought one .

The 500 is a nice heli agreed ( even for an align lol ) .. but you will probably find that when you start doing more then you will want a 50/90 nitro ...

I went from a 400/450 elec to a 30 then started doing more and went to a 50 so personally I would just jump to a 50 ...

At the end of the day the choice is always yours ... but make sure when you buying it you see it fly and check it over or get someone else to check it over for you ...

As for selling mine if I do will let you know ....

Thanks for the replys guys, dave the reason i wanted to miss the 500 out is mainly due to battery prices, the cells for the 450 are about £10 each, whereas forthe 500 there around £35 to £40, I didn't want to go out get a 500, all those batteries and gear for 500.

That's also why my choices are new 450 sport super combo, or a used nitro model

after being done over on eBay before and with my present heli, I am a little jubious of buying used again, would a new 450 be any good then buy new nitro when I can afford it, as my trust in used models is lacking at the moment
                    Kev

7 is better but you can run 6 .... revlocks dont need the 7 channel to run though ...

Kev .. a new 450 would be a good choice m8e ... like you say they cheaper as well and also cheaper to run .. if you then decide to buy a nitro then you still got a heli to fly while you save for a nitro .. TBH I sold all my elecs and just fly nitro now as I love the smell and sound of them ....

Do they? I thought you could run it without the remote adjustment, I know the Align gov definitely needs the 7th channel.

I love the smell of nitro, but like I say, a bit worried about used models now, had 2 used trucks, both knackered and a used heli that needs many new parts, dint want to get a used nitro that would need lots of new parts also,

the revlocks will run in manual mode on 6 channel rx and remote mode with 7 channel rx Paul

Kev .. like I said if you do decide to go down the used route make sure you see it flying .. take someone with you that knows a bit about models and you should be ok .. or buy off a trusted member off here

I like most on here offer money back if people are not happy with there purchase ( as long as its a fault and not cos they changed there minds lol... )

If I did decide to sell one of my knights then I would bring it for you to look at and see if flying and would check everything was ok before I sold it n e way
