gyro/tail servo issues

hi guys

changed my pants gyro earlier to a 401b of davew(thanks mate), problem is i didnt have set up sheet, so installed it all and hooked tail servo up, there was a funny noise(continuous from servo), and went all the way right, so turned it off and the servo was, well lets say... rather warm!!!!

phoned adieuk up and asked his opinion, he told me put a post on here and told me what he thinks is wrong,

im using a hs56hb servo, and the gyro was set in digital mode, so thinks there is too much voltage gone through the servo, servo now in normal mode wont move anywhere apart from right.

was this the problem, and will i need a new servo? i think i may do, i could punch myself DOH!!

i think you have tried to put the gyro in ds mode on a non ds servo mate
but im sure if im wrong in saying this
someone will jump in

If the 401b is anything like the gy401 then there is a digital and normal setting for the tail servo. If you select digital and use an analog servo you will damage the servo which is what seems to have happened!

Do you have a spare servo that you could try (making usre this time that the gyro setting is changed).

HS56 is analouge (from memory as is HS65's ect) the 556,565 are digitals

so servo will be fubar'ed, looks like ill order a new one anyway, was going to when i broke it, as wanted better servo on tail, maybe my evil subconscious has done it on purpose, damn subconscious!!!!

just ordered align ds520 me tal geared servo for the tail, hopefully remember to put switch on gyro back to digital!!!!! be better than that hs56 anyway!!! hold my tail better surely??

Hi Kev, sorry but I should have talked you through set up when I gave you the gyro, damn.

Anyway the DS520 will be a vast improvement on the analogue Htec you had on there. Hope it soon arrives - if it has been ordered from FastLads you'll be flying Friday OK. Take it to the field and Adie, Joe or one of the lads there will set you up. I'm away this weekend so won't see you all.

dont worry dave, should have checked it out myself first really, yeah should be here on friday, so will get it all installed and ready to go for friday evening, right... off back for bit more phoenix time
