Going back to the original thread, it reminds me of the occasion where I was at a wedding do and the waitress serving the bread rolls with tongs dropped one and it bounced across the table. She duly placed it back on her serving plate and gave me a different roll ... and then gave the dropped roll to someone else a few places along the table. Not as bad as the floor, but similarly poor principle.
During our recent stay in Scotland just last weekend we stayed in what seemed a lovely Victorian house owned and run by an elderly lady..
Now as soon as we entered the door into the house there was a very strong smell of dogs everywhere.
As we walked through the entrance 2 terriers and another pooch type thing mingled round our legs as we went up to our rooms for the night.
To cut a long story short we got up on Saturday morning, went down to the dining area and had our cereals and waited for our English breakfast to come.
Quite a posh room with a thick carpet laid the landlady brought our breakfast in one in each hand, The last to be served was Carl (a Stainburn member)....... when she approached Carl with his plate a sausage fell off the plate on to the stinking carpet.
She then picked up the sausage, wiped it on her apron and put it back on Carl's plate in front of all of us without so much of a hint of embarrassment with the words "its ok I vacuumed yesterday".
Not a hint of "I'm sorry" or "I'll replace that".. just back on the plate and eat it... Jeebus I thought I had seen everything..
The moral of this story is....... Never complain about Travel Lodge's again.
PS: The sausage didn't get eaten..
I hope our B&B at the weekend is a couple of degrees better than this
on top of the sausage-gate affair ,i am not used to taking a bath in water the colour of bloody tea when i asked for a front door and bed room key a look of horror appeared on her face and replied "we don't have them after all whose going to steel your stuff" ....stuck up old bag !!!
In total contrast to the delightful place the lads were in, the Plantings Inn where I was staying with a couple of others was fantastic, the food was great (trust me I know my food lol ), the owner was really really friendly and made sure we were comfortable, we had a nice sitting area which we just literally dumped the heli's in at night (it was that safe) and had front door keys supplied with all the room keys incase we were going to be late back!
I work in a hotel and if something is dropped even on a table it gets binned no matter what!

sorry del but there is no way i can see you binning food, no matter where it fell, lol
lol if I was the sensitive type i might take offense to that however I have been known on occasion to throw food away especially after it has been on the floor . I'm not one for waste though

I work in all different restaurants on a daily basis all around England doing electrical maintenance and some of them are supposed to be what some may call top restaurants! But you don't even wanna know the things I've seen going on! Oh dear!
