  • Thanks to Andy at Phoenixtech

A while back I put together a very nice Trex 450 SE V1 from an airframe I bought on here. I got a very nice bright orange Phoenixtech canopy and it looked great in the air. But on my second outing I had a crash due to the pinion coming loose while inverted and ruined the nice new canopy.

I then repaired the heli and took it out and promptly crashed again! Fortunately using the already heavily dinged up canopy.

So Andy took pity on me and gave me a bit of a break on my second canopy.

I now have it repaired again and took some pics today with the bright shiney new canopy, which I will NOT go straight out and smash up this time (it's actually more of a redish deep orange but my cheap camera seems to have trouble capturing this shade of colour, anyway it looks great!)

Yeah I have an Align one that is dark blue and green and it looks great on the ground but can be hard to see in the air, especially against a green tree line. So the orange is great for visibility.

That is canopy i have been eyeing for a long time, is the quality as good as Aligns intrem of thickness of fibre glass. They are the same price as align 450 sports but are they as good?

can you please let us know how to buy one the link above is only their website, please don't tell me by at wingswheelandrotors, the problem with that shop is it only beneficial to by small number of parts since they charge a 50p potage for each item (minimum depending on size some item £2 per item) and £3 for canopy on top of a flat rate postage of 1.50. Sometime if i order loads of parts like £100 which i wanted to do yesterday my postage cost was £22 which is outrages to ship bit which can fit in a small box and usally sent first class unrecorded to me. Some time it works more expensive than buying genuine Align bits purely due to the high postage. I once wrote to the store who apparently never reply to my mail, even when they sent me only half the order and I had call then to get the other half/ make them realize their mistake.

I still buy from them but I usually have to be very price consciously/ compare to other stores before I hit the final checkout button. I hope they read this and sort this out surely this stagregy can't be good for their business, it more like eBay were people make money of the postage rather than the price of the item.

Andy may be you can suggest to them a better postal stagregy, to an otherwise very good service/store

It appears to be the same thickness and weight as the Align GRP canopies. The holes were already drilled and it was just a matter of popping in some grommets and no problems with the fit. The finish is a very glossy rich colour and nice fade from dark orange to a yellowish tint in the middle. Comparing with the Align blue and green canopy I have at the moment there is a similar amount (very very small) of bleed at some of the sharp colour borders (about the same on the Align as well, to be clear) but it is so small you need to get up real close to notice. I suppose this would be the area in which Canomod or Fusano go a step further but then you pay twice as much.

I should mention a big thanks to woody for the lower frames . You cannot see the one I replaced in that pic as I only needed to change the right side in the end. I'll give the other frame side to tiddler now that he has plowed a bit of the field with his 450 as well.

Guy's you can get them here

phoenix items - Get great deals on trex, align items on eBay.co.uk Shops!

The way my postage works is you pay what they cost to send, its unfortunate but the eBay postal system is a joke and not so easy to customise so the 50p per item on top of original cost is pretty much standard, What i always tell my customers is if you want additional items buy them but don't pay for them i will then send you an invoice directly which you can pay with "proper" postage charged.

Or better still just get in touch with what you want and a paypal request can be sent to you, or however you wish to pay.
