  • Captain Crash- Not just a clever name!!!

While out practicing tonight for the 3D Scotland grass roots i managed to destroy my 700 ! After rounding up the wreckage and looking over the carnage to try to discover the cause my very good friend Simon S was able to point out my most obvious and rather silly mistake!!

My receiver lipo was almost completely flat to the degree that it wouldn't even register on my charger, i had left it plugged in to my receiver/reg for a few days since last flying even though i had charged it up.

I foolishly took it for granted that it was fine and paid the price this evening.

    You gotta laugh eh! !

        Sorry about your loss.

        Which regulator/switch?

I've got reg/switch assemblies that I leave plugged in for months at a time without use and without disconnecting, and the packs seldom loose more than maybe 10% of their charge.

Generally if you reg has a fail safe switch, then it will have a residual current draw all the time. I think the flight tech I use has about 4ma/hour. I always stick a fresh pack in at the start of the day and stick the other on charge while im flying

Bad luck though, it's a killer when it's not your thumbs dumbing it in

Have one of these as well, but what I had failed to realise (not reading the instructions) is that the cyclics are non regulated, I have running my S3252's on full Lipo voltage this year
Have now fitted a reg in the line

Nothing unless I can get my 700 rebuilt in time, going to order parts from jamie tonight and hope they come before we set off for Scotland or might see if I can get the address of one of the Scottish guys and get them delivered there just in case or might just go to Fastlad on the way to Scotland, rebuilt some of it already but just need a few more bits

What’s wrong with the trusty Knight?

As with any of Chris’s crashes this was a good one, lol. Are your servo gears ok? I thought they looked a bit goosed? Not that there was much receiver batter life left to check them with. You best stop messing about and get it sorted for the weekend
