  • Fixing heli's for cash

    Hi all,

I've got a few (mostly broken) blade 400's that I haven't got time to fix as I'm working a silly amount of hours at the moment.

I'm really missing flying what with all the lovely weather but I just don't have time to fix them.

Would someone on here be interested in repairing them for a cash/beer/parts?

Preferably they should be local and they must have a high post count/be a respected member as I wouldn't want someone walking off with my models!

    Cheers,
    Danny

Dunno if he is on here, but there is a top bloke near Reading. If you know Hobby Stores in Reading ask about Eric, he builds mostly Trexs and he helped set up my 450 a while ago, I have seen him fly a Raptor Scale Agusta 119, he is very knowledgable where helis are concerned, am sure he could help you out

Although most people are good meaning and honest what happens if someone does fix your blade and then for some reason your first flight something fails, your first port of call would be the guy doing you a favour. It would be mine. Your better off taking it to a shop and at least you then have somewhere to go.

Just an aside I wouldn't want anyone else repairing with my heli as it just isn't done the way I would do it and I would never be happy. I hate fixing or fiddling with the bloody things it's just lost flying time to me but there's no substitute to doing it yourself.

I don't mind taking a look at the heli's mate. I'm only in Camberley but pm me if you're interested. Had a Blade 400 and they're great little heli's and can easily 3d if setup right.

Thanks for all the replies and special thanks to Bolders and Lynx 1677.

Bolders you have a PM and Lynx 1677 do you fly in a club or just farmers field?

                Waveydavey, thanks for the advice.
I'd like to tell you a little story about a very well known and respected heli shop that my friend handed his Synergy 90 and Millennium 60 for repairs and setup.

The models were handed over about 6 months after the synergy 90 was first released.
Now bear in mind he had specified he wanted them completely setup and explained how he wanted the radio setup etc; he was told it would take roughly 3 months, maybe slightly longer.
Nearly two yeas later and many many many many many phone calls asking when the models will be ready he was told they were ready for collection.

He turned up at the shop to collect the models and the synergy was nicely done. But the Millennium (both models had been bought from that shop) he was told was flying ok but the engine was running quite rough. My friend asked how rough and the owner explained that it may cut out at any time and that my friend should fix the problem.

Now to be fair to the shop they said they had to completely rebuild the synergy 90 and rebuild the head and re-align gears etc on the millennium.
But, at no point did the shop in question ever say on the many occasions they were called for a progress update that things were taking longer than expected due to the above issues.
The excuses were 'sorry been really busy' and 'oh I forgot about them' and variations thereof.

So if that's the kind of service you get from one of the top model shops in the country I'll take my chances with someone off this forum.
Now I know many people on here hold the shop in very high regard and worship the ground the owner walks on and to be fair to the owner his is an outstanding pilot; but I've described the experiences as accurately as I can and I'll leave you to make your own mind up about it.

I also take your point that it's better to fix your own model and I couldn't agree more.
But I'm short on time, don't really have the space at the moment and frankly I'm rubbish at it; and like you I don't enjoy doing it, I LOVE flying, but mechanical tinking is just a necessary evil for me.

I know this post may cause some controversy and that is not my intention.
I wish the shop in question all the best in the future.
