  • Maintenance Trex hk 500 size

    Hi guys,

I am intrigued to know all of you that have a 500 size heli what kinda maintenance you do on a regular basis..i.e lubrication, checking various parts, cleaning etc...

I have 2 of these machines and both are belt driven.
I would really like to know do you spray the tail belt everytime you fly to prevent static??
    What kinda greases etc etc..
I run a static cable on one and the hk500 gt has a alloy frame.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Hi, I owned a trex500 Cf for a while and now have a clone of the same machine, very similar to the HK500 but with CF frame.
The ordinary maintainace that I usually do is>
-Lubricating with maplin spay lubricant main and tail shaft + each bearing that is accessible
    -Lube motor shaft bearing
-check belt tension, try to keep it as loose as possible
-check all nuts and screws to be tight and not come loose
    - check ball links, if the unlock with finger pressure, I replace them
    -check servo horns and screws

all this I guess every 4-5 flights

I have actually never done any wiring for the static problem as I never had the issue with my spektrum gear, only thing that I do anyway is spray the same silicon lube I use for the shafts inside the tail boom soaking the blelt.
dont know if this is the fix for it but it works for me

Boggy is right, mr sheen works wonders.
And a defo is keep the motor bearings lubed otherwise it kills the motor.
Keep a close eye on the dampers

A silly question - how do you lubricate the motor bearing? And what is your special lubricant?

(Perhaps this should start a new thread and hope I'm not hijacking the thread.)

              Cheers

                This is what I use
Silicone Grease with PTFE : Lubricants : Maplin
with the extension tube I can get anywhere even in the smallest place to lubricate bearings
