I would think so but I never tried it. The Raptor 30 gearing is quite long at 9.5 to 1 compared to the 50 at 8.5 to 1. You can get 600mm blades on the lightweight side and then it's just a matter of how much pitch. So I'd think it should be entirely possible and would just be a matter of reduced pitch range as you'll have more lift from the bigger disc area.

The tail authority shouldn't change because your headspeed (and thus tailrotor speed) won't be that much different if any.

Well, I have already sold the white Gaui woodies now actually. I still have a used pair of TT wood blades with clear covering I'll sell and a pair of unknown brand that look like they were probably 600mm cut down to 550 you can have for free but I should probably just bin them because the weights are quite close to the tip (although someone had done quite a deliberate job with them and used some kind of epoxy on the tips, the total blade weights are matched fairly well etc.).

Seems like a lot of work and expense to avoid buying 550 blades.Its been very interesting thread.
I am going to order about 10 set's to see what there like if anything i will be able to crash the Raptor more with out the worry of not having any blades.

Does colour of blades make any difference in the are some easy to see and whats the best.

I find all black blades a bit strange sometimes as they can seem to be almost invisible. But I suppose you can always stick some adhesive sign vinyl on them to create a more visible stripe near the tips.
