Maybe it would be possible to start up a separate section located on the toolbar called "SHOP" or something, where these sales/wants could be posted. At least they would be easier to find and browse, and would be separate from the main forum.

But all he had to do is put a great big disclaimer up saying you buy and sell at your own risk and the site has nothing to do with it at all.

this seems a good idea to me, keeps everybody happy then, even the minority

i have to agree. the for sale is useless now. would be aswell removing it to avoid the problem altogether or just go back to how it was as live with it.

What Stuart did not want was the unsavoury slanging matches between the sides of disgruntled parties over a transaction-gone-wrong being aired out through the forum!! And personally, I did not blame him one bit for that.

A Forum, although "controlled" by the Moderators, is after all, what we, the users make it. It's "characteristics" and "personality" are a reflection on all of us.

I agree The For Sale was a good part of this forum - I always ignored the bun fights and enjoyed the read ;> - I have had no problems buying and miss it especially the comments on the for sale - Please reconsider Stuart.

It's a shame users cant choose not to view parts of the forum
on the main threads window.
I for one would then be able to not have to view the so & so
is a good seller posts that now far outweigh any other posts here.
This is kinda strange because I dont get a choice to view what
is in the for sale section via the main threads window untill after it has sold.
Then I kick myself for missing the bargain that someone else has got.

have recently purchased 2 items from different sellers in the for sale / wanted section and both transactions went smoothly. Would be a shame to lose the section over a few niggles. BIG disclaimer needed is all, it's no different to buying anygoods second hand from anywhere else, difference here is that it's friendlier and more personal.

Use New Posts Martin at the top of the page. It remembers what you last looked at, then displays all the new posts since then.

Or bookmark the FS section, so when you first sign in that is the first page you see.

Bought 2 Helis form forum members on here and both have been superb- I like the element of trust the forum adds, rather than E bay- yes you are always going to get some unhappy people and also some dodgy sellers, but I would like to think the proportion of dodgy sellers would be by definition be less on here than on E Bay.

I think it is always a case of buyer beware- on the whole, I like to assume most people are honest and trustworthy. I also think the last open air rant did the buy and sell forum a huge dis service and once again a minority spoils it for the majority, whoever was right or wrong in that case. The discussion of the issue should never have come anywhere near open forum as in reality, the buy and sell section here is no different to any classifieds and buying second hand.

Just my little opinion :P

Same here and have purchased an item in the last 10 days, just awaiting delivery which, I hope, will turn in tomorrow. I have no idea how "it used to be", but find little difficulty using any part of the forum. I also use BMFA and find that awfully slow these days.
