  • MSR Batteries

My transmitter has logged over 13.5 hours of flying time on my MSR and I think my 3 batteries may be on the way out.

On a couple of the batteries after a moment or twos flying, the blue led starts to flash, and the model falls to the ground. It will take off again, and fly for a moment more, then the same will happen again.

Occasionally the receiver seems to crash in that the blades will spin and it will skit about around the floor.

Seems that I've got my monies worth out the batteries, but thought I'd just check incase its something else.

Hi Matt, Sounds as though your batteries are shot. I have found that the genuine E Flight ones definately last longer and I still have an original 98mA one that gives 5 minutes of gentle flying and hover, whereas, the 150mA ones I bought from HK in February all got hot in use and have now all failed. Just invested in some E Flight 150mA ones and they give over 10 minutes of hard flying time without getting hot.

The little beast thrashing around on the floor totally out of control is one of the symptoms of low battery voltage but its best not to let it happen too often as it can damage the IC's on the 5:1 board.

Thanks, I'll dump these batteries and get me some new ones.

I just got some 150mah batteries for my mCX. Was really bad weather today so had a good few sessions flying inside. I really noticed the difference in the 150's. Like you said, I had some cheap ones on ebay before and didnt rate them so i went for genuine e-flight and they are much better.
