  • Dynamic vs Static.

Static I know' that's when you use a blade balancer but what is it when you dynamic balance blades!
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

LOL when I read the title I thought the question was going to be about TCP IP.

Some blade balancers also check the dynamic balance.

All dynamic balance is, is checking to make sure the COG of both blades is in the exact same spot from the blade bolt hole at the root.

If you don't have a dynamic balancing tool put a bolt through the blades and arrange them (Like a V shape) so you can mark the trailing edge of both blades in the same location out with a marker pen.

This is a reference which you know is the same for both blades.

Then line up both the blades at the same time on a cutting board or something else which is perfectly 90 degrees square with lines. You have to align the blades and a round item which the blades can balance on (such as a pipe) at 90 degrees.

Then move back and forth the blades (while making sure they are both square with the work surface) and make sure that they both drop at the same time (use that mark you made as a reference to see which one is tipping first). Like a see-saw.

Add blade tape to either side until they do tip at the same time (the reference marking you made is in the same COG on each blade)

Don't forget to static balance afterwards (same weight). Make sure you add this weight in the centre of the COG of the blade (use the pipe again).

I'm tired so this might not be well explained but it's how I do it...

I guess it's similar to dynamic balancing of car wheels.

I thought of friction (O level physics).

Anyway, there is a finless video showing blade balancing and includes a description of 'dynamic' balancing as LaurenceGough has tried to explain.

I got one of these for Xmas. It too does both static and dynamic balance.
