  • Weird goings on with DX7.

Was out flying my Trex 700 tonight and have noticed recently it seems to fly oddly when in idle up always needing corrective inputs. It was really bugging me so brought it in close for a hover. Hovers fine and very stable. Flick to idle up and straight away the problem shows up. The heli come backwards and to the right...... Back to normal flight and hovers fine..... idle up, come back and right again.

Anyway after looking through the radio i noticed when you flick into idle up it resets all the trims back to the middle !!!!!! Then when you flick back to normal mode all the orignal trim settings are still there.

Why does it do this? Why would you want your trims to be different.

All my models will be the same with slight trim adjustments not carrying over in idle up. (well they will now as ive changed them)

There are seperate trims for different modes

Flick into normal and your trim will be different to idle up 1 and 2. Make sure they are all the same

DX7 needs to be manually set in each mode unlike Futaba.

That explains why i have always felt weird flying in idle up since changing to the DX7 Always felt like the heli was slowing up and i was constantly pushing forward!!!!

Helicopters tend to need different trims in foward flight to the hover. This is why most radios have different trims for different flight modes. Futaba used to call these stunt trims on there FF9 any way..
I have never found a helicopter that will hover on the same trims as it fly's in foward flight on. Just re trim your model in Idle up for flying. Start with the same trims as hovering and go from there.
            I hope this helps?

Quickest method that I found that ensure's your trims are all the same in all flight modes is to simply adjust the trims in idle 1/2 until they match normal flight mode,, Then just flick between normal/id1/id2 - you should then see no movement of the trim digit on the dx7 screen..
              Works for me..
