Motor Question

OK this might sound odd but when I hover my heli I can hear my motor making what sounds like a "Miss-Fire" as you would expect in a petrol engine that wasn't running properly!

This blip in the motor sound isnt regular and lasts for a nano second, when I say not regular I guess it would occur every ten to fifteen seconds the ESC is a Jive 80HV which is only a few months old and dosent even get warm with my flying style.

The motor is a Kontronik Pyro 30-12 which I know has seen quite a long period of service, so I guess what I'm asking is whether the motor might be showing signs of wear and causing the occasional blip?

Anyone heard this before???

Long shot maybe...bearings? Try a spot of lube on them.

Or could the pinion be slipping very slightly? Check the grub screw.

Can't think of anything else.

Brushless motors can make really weird noises when the ESC gets out of beat with the motor rotation. It sounds a bit like electronic music from outer space, lacking a better description (not that I have ever heard any...).
Unfortunately this information alone is pretty useless. The question is, if this is what happens, why does it happen.
What I'd do is to check all the solder joints, especially between motor and ESC. If nothing changes, shoot a video. If nobody here can make sense of it, ask Kontronik support to have a look at it.

Thanks Dave - Certainly is strange never heard of an electric motor "Missing" like an IC Engine !!!!!

Might have to see if I can put another motor in the heli to see if it cures it?

Returning it to Kontronik is a possibility it is getting on a bit so would probably benefit from a bit of R&R and a quick service while it's there.

I actually had an email from the service department in Germany today after my asking where you can get the small Black Binding Plugs from, they kindly offered to send me replacements FOC.
