  • Another OS55 bearing Question

I have a Genuine OS crankshaft bearing here, sent by bladestriker with a os50 engine I bought. It has a code number of 26730010. it says for 46fx-h, 50sx-h, 55AX.
Am I correct in thinking this will fit my OS 55.

    Many Thanks

As far as am aware the 50 hyper and the 55 hyper run the same bearing apart from the 55 uses a metal caged bearing and the 50 using a plastic one ... TBH I use metal caged in both but not genuine OS ones and ones I get local for alot cheaper than you can buy the OS ones for

Just checked, this has a plastic cage, do you think this is unsuitable to use, not really certain if it would make any difference

It should be fine in some respects better as the cage doesn't rust.
Likewise when there shot i buy local bearings for 1/3 the price

I have a contact who runs a bearing buisness, I do his decorating , but a this is a brand new bearing, and it going to rain all day I figured it may be a good day to inspect, and change if needed.
But I am going to see what price I can get bearings from my contact, I will keep you informed.

          Many thanks

The good thing I found with metal caged bearings is the fact you can hear them starting to go before they do , so have plenty of warning on them failing

Not saying it will happen Mike, I have had metal ones on a couple of my engines with no problems, but when I replace them now I always stick a plastic caged one in if possible.

Only reason I stick with metal caged is they are cheaper ... oh that and the fact when its just starting to go its rattly as hell lol.... I treat them as consumable part and keep 2 in all the time lol....

Well ive popped my bearing change cherry, went really well, a lot easier than I thought. For anyone who has never had to change a rear bearing I would recommend you download the first smack talk video. It pretty much walks you through it step by step.
Will try to get a test flight in tommorow

I takes longer to get the heli engine out, than it does to change the bearings, as long as you prep the oven and the fridge first.........
