450 Size CCPM Servos

I think it's time for a new set of cyclic servos in my Beam. Current ones are low-end Hitecs and I have my suspicions about at how at least one of them is performing ever since the last time I binned it.

So, what suggestions?

I'm thinking maybe Align DS410s - seem a good price. Don't see much point in going for the more pricey metal gear version.

Anything else I should consider?

They are terrible servos imo.

Hitec 5065MG's get my vote.

I have 5065MG's in my 450 Pro and they are superb, really pleased with their performance and accuracy.

While Align's full size servos seem to be pretty good, they're smaller stuff is utter crap! DS410's in either metal or plastic guise wear at a phenomenal rate, break easily in a crash, and just don't seem to last like the HS-65MG's do. When i killed 2 servo's in a crash i took the opportunity to upgrade to to the hitecs, and they've been great since!

Just checked the ones I've got at the moment and they are HS-65HBs. They came with the heli when I got it 2nd hand.

Stick with them if there isnt any play in them.

My Pro has been destroying the metal gears in the HS-65s when it goes in. So I have replaced the larger gear in the servo with a HB one. It now has a weak spot and takes 2 mins to change and a quarter of the cost

id go for the align ds410m ones theyre £25 at www.fast-lads.co.uk.

theyre pretty good in my opinion.

its just a matter of choice really.

I've got HS-65MG's in my Beam, just smash it at the weekend, one-way shaft let go broke servo arm on the elv (amongst other things) servo fine, tough little blighters!

I've used HS65MG's on both of my 450's. So far (touch wood) I've only had one failure after many crashes some of which have been quite impressive.

They seem to be tough little servo's so I have no hesitation in recommending them.

I have one as a tail servo on my Guru-z Xeon FP heli. It does the job. Not sure what it would be like on the cyclic.

That servo is a re-badged Henge MD922 servo. Search eBay and you'll see it and sister servo which is designed for cyclic use, the MD933.

I use them on cyclic and tail, have had 2 crashes with no damage to any servos, YET famous last words.
