  • dissable takeoff in normal flight mode?

Having narrowly escaped a crash with my trex by trying a flip in normal mode. I was thinking of setting up my raptor to prevent this.
I was thinking of setting the normal mode to
    pitch 45,45,45,45,45 throttle 20(idle), 50, 50, 50, 50 (where 50 is what hovers at 1600-1700 rpm).
    Then idle up 1
    pitch 0, 25, 50 , 75, 100 throttle 100, 75, 50, 75, 100 (or whatever keeps the revs constant)
Idle up 2 similar but a bit more headspeed.

Thus I will spool up in normal (which I can't get wrong and successfully start the engine without obvious problems).
Bit if I try to takeoff it'll just sit there at launch revs with a little bit of negative pitch reminding me to switch flight modes.

So far I always flew my trex with zero pitch mid stick, hover on 3/4 stick which works for me fine.

Next Q is anyone flying a raptor 50 with a 50sxh (not hyper) and std muffler want to share their settings as a start point for me?

    Hi

All very well until you realise and switch to idle with the throttle stick higher than half at which point it rockets up or you forget and switch out of idle while in the hover and it makes a crater!
It is always best to try and keep all pitch curves the same or sooner or later it will bite you:-)

    Cheers

      Moyesboy,

A simple and good practice is spool up in normal, change to idle 1 on the ground, fly, land and either go back to norm for spool down or hit throttle hold (if set up).

Standard procedure I like to teach at the field is middle stick 0° no matter what your flying style. As the middle stick is also the starting point for setting your head speed. As you increase the pitch from middle stick you will also need to increase the power as you load the blades to keep your headspeed then same.

What you choose to have as max and min pitch is total down to you and how you fly, always have the middle to top stick pitch curves the same.

      My settings are:

      -13.5,0,+13.5 in norm, idle1 and idle 2
0-1700 norm at middle to top stick
1850 idle 1 from bottom to middle stick
2000 idle 2 from bottom to middle stick

I agree, I always setup my own models and customer setup models to 0 degrees in the middle, ramping up to + 10 at top stick. The only difference is I also like to have 2 different pitch curves below half stick. the first is -4 degrees at bottom stick, which I setup in both normal and idle up 1 modes, this way when you are learning or coming in to land you arent using the full - 10 degrees I setup in idle up 2 and throttle hold, so the model wont drive itself into the ground.

        Cheers,
        Pete.

I fly with all my pitch curves the same

          0 25 50 75 100 in all modes and hold

          Throttle i have as a straight 0 25 50 75 100 in normal and 100 75 75 75 100

          in idle up(governed)

I automatically switch into idle up as soon as my skids leave the ground
