  • How do you use a different gyro with the 3G?

Trying to use my old 750 with the 3G but I can't figure out how to get it to work.

I've unplugged the RUDD and SENS plugs from the 3G unit and left them out and plugged my 750 gyro as I normally would but the 3G system won't initialse when there is nothing connected to the RUDD port on the control box.

How do you get it to work, there is nothing in the manual to help which is clever.

Hmm, I plugged my GP750 into my Rx as per normal and my rudder servo into the GP750. However, the 3G system now flashes red/green and won't initialise (doesn't do the twitch 3 times thing). Surely you don't still plug the tail servo into the 3G unit as that defeats the point?

I know people incuding myself who are using there own choice gyro (Futaba GY520 in mine) with the 3G and it works perfect Dan.

You have a problem elsewhere why it won't initialize mate.

So you just leave the Rudder port on the control box empty?

That would make sense as it would just confuse the 3G system and it wouldn't be truely independent of it other wise, this is an interesting thread i just fitted 3G to my 500 today to see if i like FBL before my ENV arrives had 6 flights today tails utter Sh1t so will try this for myself tomorrow and post results,
Have to say as has been commented doesnt say much for this system if we need to resort to a gyro for the tail
Total g is looking more and more appealing.

I thought the whole point of the system was that the 3 gyros all work together, each knows what the other is doing?

I must admit the tail could be better and suggest the firmware update will improve it somewhat.

The choices are you can use a third party gyro "if needed" if you prefer one.

Got it working and the GP750 hold the tail perfectly. No idea why the 780 just can't do the job.

I guess the Align one works differently to the V-Bar then.

One would assume though that the tail gyro contained within the 3G unit is the same as the guts of the 750 or 780 but if you wanted to use a Spartan etc. then it's handy.

That's the idea of the Vbar system, probably why it has the best holding tail out of all the Fbl systems and one of if not the best holding tails full stop

is this the 780 you were having issues with before on the 500?

No sorry, I mean the built in tail gyro that is part of the 3G unit. It's basically a 780.
