  • My Raptor Hates me :(

Feeling a bit dejected with my Raptor at the moment!!.

It crashed the other week due to mechanical failure of some sort (Still unknown) when it just lost pitch and slammed into the ground.

Bought the parts and a few little upgrades for it to make it feel better.

Fired it up yesterday, the headspeed seems a little high, so i just tentatively hovered it around for a bit and called it a day.

Last night i altered the throttle curve a bit to reduce the headspeed, and took it to the field today to try it out. It was fairly windy, on taking off the tail kicked out to the left 45 degrees, fair enough it thought i'll keep an eye out for that,.

Then all of a sudden it shot up into the air for no reason.

Managed to get it down safely and found that the pitch link had come off the servo, so i effectively had to get it down on throttle only at full pitch.

It seems the nicer i treat it , the worse it is. Maybe i should treat it like a piece of s**t, and it will probably fly fine after that. LOL

As nasty as they get, with all the frustration they give, the little buggers still work best after some TLC.

Bearing in mind your previous crash, I suggest you replace the ball and link in question. Before they bite again.

...oh, and as for the 45 degree kick, check all rudder controls, belt tension and make sure there's no slop in the tail pitch mechanism as it's easy to mis-assemble the rear roller and allow movement in there. Also check your fuel lines for any air ingestion that might make the engine run rough and yaw the heli. That said, the chances are that the yaw issue was connected to the pitch issue.

These three quotes say to me the problem may have been the arm of the servo moving on the splines, wouldn't hurt to check just incase

Sorry to hear of your troubles. As sick as they make us sometimes though, I just couldn't be without my heli(s).

Cheers, i know what you mean. I have found a new love or the blade 400 yesterday as that flew perfectly.

Have looked ofer everything, nothing obvious now, so hopefully all ok.

A couple of bts had play in them, but have tightened and threadlocked stuff up again.

Fingers crossed. LOL. Raptor 2.....Joe 0

If it's any consolation, my first forray into flybarless saw my 450 take a dirt nap and destroy my new blades and canopy. It's almost like it 'knows' you have put shiny new expensive bits on it!

I think you are right, it flew better when it looked like a bag of poo. LOL
