Well I always thought that if you can do it in Phoenix, then you can do it for real, and now I'm convinced
I have felt reasonably confident with normal forward flight for a while now, but have just never felt brave enough to go for anything that involved turning the heli upside down. But I have to say, that it was every bit as easy as doing it in the sim. It was just a matter of going for it, and making that leap of faith
I went for a backwards flip as this just seemed to be the simplest move I could think of. I'm sure you'll be ok too. Just make sure you have enough height before you go for it.

Well done Graham. Is a backward flip essentially a tight backward loop? An are you going all the way round back to upright, or stopping at inverted?
I am not sure I will ever get inverted (and stay there...)
Anyway, congratulations.

Back flip to inverted, then if it goes pear shaped, flip back over and your back to tail in...Dont know about others but thinking too much makes my flying ugly.

Thanks Edmund
Yeah it was a simple backwards roll without stopping, and all the way back to right way up and tail in. The manoeuvre its self wasn't particularly scary tbh and I was more relieved that the negative pitch did its job and held the altitude.
If there was a scary moment, it was the fact that the roll rate was a bit slow, so it felt like it took an age to go all the way over. Looking back, it really wasn't that slow at all, it just felt that way at first.
As for stopping half way, well that's on my soon to do list

Excellent! I am still trying to get up to deliberate forward flight but posts like this show that you can steadily improve and eventually get where you want to be
I cannot even think about deliberately putting that much cyclic input in yet without breaking out in a cold sweat.
Heya tiddler ive responded to your pm.
Congrats again on the rolls buddy.
Try inverted aswell, its a little strange but a good feeling.
Then onto the chaos
Went out flying with bolders earlier and did a piro in inverted, it didnt feel like I was flying it lol :/. crazy stuff.
Cool,
Your obviously progressing in leaps and bounds. Well done m8 .
Ive just got back from a quick outing, but the wind was very strong and really gusting. Got half way through my first pack and then it started to pi*s down
Oh well next time eh
