  • My new 500 with it's little brothers (sisters?)

Just got back from a road trip to collect my absolutely gorgeous new 500. Apart from being annoyed at stupid traffic diversions, traffic jams for no reason which just disappear after a few miles and the state of the roads (although I was stuck in one jam for over half an hour because they were resurfacing the roads of an entire village) I still have a grin

It was described to me as 'good condition' by Bruinbear and it lives up to that, and more. Mint would be a better description, it hardly looks flown and everything looks spot on. Pretty much all upgrades carried out including TT Tail, Spartan Gyro, 9254 tail servo, HS5245MG Cyclics, Fusuno Canopy, etc, etc, etc. It was not the cheapest 500 out there by any means but IMO worth every penny.

Just had to put it up on the table with my 450 (which now looks tiny?) and the 2 tiddlers and get some photos.

The only thing I have to do before I can fly it now is change the pinion, Bruinbear was flying on 5S with a 14T pinion, so with 6S I will need a 15 or 16?

      Nice canopy mate .
Makes the 450 look alot smaller there.

Just starting to 90 the servos on my 500 now, just soldered the esc [Ive just relized I worry to much if the solder will hold and so end up putting to much on :/ ]

More voltage so the motor spins faster so you gear it lower? Makes sense I suppose I was getting confused and thought more voltage meant you could gear it higher (more load) and still have it spin fast enough to be in the efficiency band.

          Cheers

You've made it look more like a 30 size (like a Logo 500 or Outrage 550) by putting it with that lot
Yes the big sigpic is coming back

13t is the normal pinion for 6s. What motor is in it, out of interest?

Z-Power A series, and it's red (therefore fast)

That's all I know from looking at it?

ROFL! The important thing re the motor is the KV, which is revolutions per volt. I have a 1600 KV Scorpion on my 500, which with a 13t pinion is spot on.

Perhaps you can find out from Bruinbear the specs of this motor? there are calculators available which enable you to work out the right pinion.

Mike has once again starred and not only sorted me out for spec but linked me to the various tables I need to select a pinion.

I need 12T for general hovering and flying about and 13T for 3D (If I could do 3D)

Looks like I need one of these as direct replacement for the Rhino Gear 14T it currently has fitted

                      It is a Z-Power Z20A 1700KV Brushless.

Very nice mate, you will love it.

I know what you mean about the 500 making the 450 look small. A friend of mine recently brought along his 600e and that makes the 500 look small - scary stuff!

                            Cheers,
                            Simon

You may find a 12t gives you head nod. the 500s are notorious for needing a high head speed. I don't know if that will happen with your particular motor, but I tried a 12t on mine, and immediately changed to a 13t.
