  • POLL: RIPPED by a fellow Addict? U decide

    Hi All
I am posting this because I am seriously *issed off and wonder what your comments are….
I bought a used Rave 450 from Squeekypete as it was advertised as a good flying heli. He has also told me that it has never been crashed, and that it has had less than 30 flights (he sent me a PM which I can post)
Anyway, it arrived today (two weeks late) and I open the box (which was undamaged) only to find the heli in a real sorry state. On closer inspection it looks like it was crashed and then shipped. The main blades are brand new and do not even have mounting scuffs on them. The flybar is badly bent in a way that only a crash could cause. One of the main grips was flipped over past the stop point and damaged. A main control rod (swash to head) is badly bent. The tail boom has creases in it and the torque tube has a serious hard spot (from the bent tail boom), the whole head seems like it has been sprayed in goo because there is no way that a servo would move it - it is seriously stiff. There are scour marks on the bottom bearing bracket and the main bearings are shot to pieces. There are also marks and damage on the frame that could only have come from a crash.
So, should I have expected this, am I being unreasonable, or is this a blatant rip off.
The pics don’t really show very well, but I am sure you can see that this is not an uncrashed 30 flight old heli.
    Gareth

No poll to be seen, can see much from the pics and why not try and resolve with Pete rather than a bun fight on here first?

I can't comment on what has happened there. What I can say is this surprises me, I bought a 500 airframe from Pete about 6 weeks back and it was exactly as described, in fact even had a load of spares and stuff extra with it. I then swapped my Synergy N9 airframe with him just last week for a 700 and the 700 was in great condition, again exactly as described. From my dealings and conversations I have had with him over the last few weeks I have had no cause for complaint at all. And just to be clear, I didn't know Pete prior to buying the 500 so not just a mate sticking up for him.

I have, a few times. I have even said that I would listen to any ideas he may have about resolving the issue. Honestly it is not about the money, its about the principal. I did not expect to be sent a non flying and damaged heli that is being passed off as a non crashed 30 flight old heli from someone on this forum. I put my money into sponcoring some up and coming pilots just becuase of the love of the hobby. Things like this just leave me with a very bitter taste.

It is not even a borderline thing, I showed RichyUK and, well, I am sure he will post his comments if he wants them made public...

Back to a recent thread where it was suggested that one mans perfect object is another mans tainted, sadly I'm a perfectionist and would expect an item described as new to be like new, which in all honesty is why I rarely buy used.
As luck would have it the items I've purchased from other members of the forum have always been as described but I know how you feel having purchased a spare canopy from the BMFA site in which the object was very badly described.
I hope you manage to sort your problem with Pete as I'm sure this must be some kind of missunderstanding.

Look, I don't know whats happened here but I can 100% assure you Pete would not sell a faulty model, especially like that.

He would defiantly not want to rip someone off, one of the most generous people I know, lending me money all weekend as well as giving me a set of blades and paddles, he's not in it for the money!

I don't want this to get into an argument but I can promise you he wouldn't do that so I don't know where this is all arising from?

Well more pics have been added since my initial post, so from what I can see.
Looks like a slight bend in the fly bar at the paddle
Frame - cant see a problem there
                          Tail fin with a break
The tail boom looks like that's the clamp mark from a tail gear box.

How was it packaged, maybe they are transit damaged?
                          Regards,

i find this really unusual for pete, his heli's are usually well looked after. i couldn't see any mention of how many flights or any crashes mentioned in the ad was this via pm?

they are very light paddles, a crash bend is always from the cage, never the tip, and i have been know to bend flybars in flight
