  • Yes! I did it! Blade Stop Autos!

    Wooo!

I Did it! Something i would not attempt to do on a .50 size but i did it! and did 3 or 4 of them!

Blade Stop Autos! (Very Very Near Stop, Could count each rotation with ease)

Weather was poop this morning and the rain had not long stopped had some good wind so thought im gonna try these blade stop autos, While i was walking to the field i was doubting myself.... There 600mm Blades Callum, Think of the Inertia etc....

Cleared my mind, did a few normal ones, then landed and tightened the blades up a bit, Took the model into the sky and hit hold, upped the collective and tried to get a feel of what the heli feels like when the blades are slowed down, first thing the model wobbles mad, and the cyclic is really slow. So induced negative and landed, i this this around a dozen times,

Then i decided i am ready!

Took it up hit hold, left the collective where it was, blades slowed right down, really slow, model starts to shake, and tilt. Loss of cyclic reponse and bam! i could see each blade rotate round, sharply stuck full negative pitch down and hit the elevator forward, the blades started to regain speed and then burst into life as i tilted the nose down 45 degrees and did a mini flare!..

I come down with some speed and flared and landed... I felt really happy!

Did it again and again with each being longer, Each of them reacting differently,

I didnt expect myself to do it, or the model to hold out. Its something i wanted to wait to do till i got a 90!

I shall be doing it at the grass roots comp! but hopefully fully stopping the blades!

Hey mate, congrats on that, takes some balls and skill .

Sometimes the pros get it wrong blade stopping on 90 size helis, but this on a 50 size . Nice indeed.

Actually i prefer doing blade stops on 50's, they spin back up better.
Myself and geek always seem to shout encouragement at each other to do them, one day we are both going home with broken helis i can see it now
Anyway, congrates mate, all for fun
