  • Setting up a 600 nsp on a dx7? how? lol

feel really dumb asking this ,but how do i set my new 600 up on a dx7? i have never set a tx up for my helis as i have always bought them set up! I really want to learn the setting up side of things transmitter wise so im hoping you guys on here will help! i am meeting another member at his club next week and he has kindly aggreed to set it up ,but fancy giving it a go over the weekend i am currently at the stage where im going inverted and progressing at my own pace so need it setting up reasonably responsive! what sort of values should i be looking at putting into the dx7 for curves and expo etc etc! sorry for such a long winded question but really want/need to learn!

    Hi Supercaptaincrash,
that is a big question you have posed.
Might I suggest registering with helifreak then clicking on the link below.

Most of the info should be in those Finless videos. After that, you're best asking specific questions on here. In terms of curves, a linear pitch curve would probably be best (i.e. 0,25,50,75,100 in all flight modes). For throttle, something like 0,INH,45,INH,100 should get you going for normal mode and 100,INH,45,INH,100 for Idle 1 and tweak from there. Expo is all down to personal choice but I use about 20%.

I think finless Bob's videos are very good and should be able to help better than a written explanation could.
However, if you have a specific question then post it here.

Right i have had a go at setting the curves up and seem pretty happy! obviously they can be tweaked in future! i have set servo type to 3 servos 120 deg, on the input select i have set aux 2 gyro, i have set gyro sens to auto, what does the option for revo mix norm and stunt actually do? what sort of pitch curve should i be looking at for st1 and st2? i have set the curves for st1 and 2 the same just in case the switch gets knocked in flight! is this ok?
what percentage should i be looking starting at for the thro hold position?
the travel adjusts are all set at 100% will this be ok for now? the screen that shows servo movement/direction when a input is given is showing thro, aile, elev and pitch all moving together??

sorry for all the questions but trying to get my head round it all! roll on next sunday when tony will no doubt erase everything and start a fresh!

Im presuming your heli idles ok then
your throttle hold needs to be set so that when at idle, your throttle linkage doesnt move when you flick into hold best doing this without the engine running to start with.

We all do things differently. the way i set things up wont nesecarily be the same as someone else sets up but watch the finless vids and that should give you a good idea of how to set up and what things do.
its important to know what your settings mean.

I would agree with what all say, finless bob is the way to go.
I also think to "tinker" a bit yourself is a good idea, personaly I tend to learn more this way. When I started I couldnt get my head round "subtrim" and why it was needed, but when you have a heli on the bench and you +/- subtrim you SEE what it does, I think this can go for most functions on a DX7. I would say have a play with with your setup but DONT FLY IT BEFORE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING CHECKS IT OUT.

                        Did I Say

DONT FLY IT BEFORE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING CHECKS IT OUT.

                        Have a fiddle/tinker/play but

DONT FLY IT BEFORE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING CHECKS IT OUT.

You aint going to damage it whilst its the bench, and you will learn a bit about the different functions

                        Have fun
