I agree Pete totally. But as an infrequent flyer, who has only been doing rc helis for just over 2 years, I am in no position to write about anything as an authority on the subject.

You could do an article on your own personal discovery and love of RC Helis, The people you have met etc. Articles such as that are defintely wanted. Have you been to any shows, Flyins, etc.
Can you provide a beginners perspective on RC Helis Today?
You surely can write about that!
There are lots of subjects you can write about.
Stu.

+1Originally posted by coptermanic View PostFor heavens sake, it's 2010, if you showed that mag to someone with no interest in our recreation, he'd think you were having a laugh. It's an embarrassment to the hobby of r/c as a whole IMHO.
Read the latest BMFA mag, heli section was once again very disappointing
. Better than nothing I guess.
Bring a RCHA mag

How about more than two pagesOriginally posted by Big A View PostSo what would you want to see in a heli section in the BMFA news?
.
What I like may not be what someone else will like but what's normally in there currently is not what many people are interested in.
Anyway, I will stop now as it seems people are against change or something...

No interest in the BMFA mag happy here with RCHA. And I have nothing against the BMFA.
I Think what Stuart is doing is great and I am all for helping getting if off the ground. Competition is good and healthy, also how could you not support some one that wants to help improve things and give people more choice. Both BMFA and RCHA are there for us and help keep this hobby/sport going. Go with who you want to be apart of, and I hope all the crap stops and we can go to clubs and events with out having this crap that's going on now.

Being Frank [sorry Frank!!], I would sooner read MHW or occasionally Rotorworld to keep up to date with subjects heli orientated. If the BMFA wish to stay predominantly plank/glider orientated, so be it. What we need is the RCHA insurance recognised by Clubs and Events. That would be a positive step forward for our specific interest, rather than the odd reluctant page on something like "who I met at the last heli meet" or "how I finally got the balls to try fwd facing hovering".

Ok, so what goes so there are more than two heli pages?Originally posted by Technex View PostHow about more than two pages

Not sure you are correct there, there is a large following for such things as control line and free flight, in fact the BMFA specialist body with the most members is Sam35 which is a free flight body.Originally posted by Technex View PostWhat I like may not be what someone else will like but what's normally in there currently is not what many people are interested in.
I think many people lose sight of what the mag is, the clue is in the title BMFA News, ie it should contain news about things going on within the BMFA, which it does, important announcements, calendar of events, reports about BMFA events etc, and articles on the many and varied disciplines under the BMFA umbrella. All of which it does. Perhaps it's just that many heli fliers consider all fixed wing activities to be the same? So they see 2 pages of heli stuff, 2 pages about F3A aerobatics, a page on IMAC aerobatics, a couple of pages on slop soaring, couple more on freeflight, couple on control line and think that helis are underrepresented, when in fact they have at least as much coverage as any other individual discipline. It also seems to me that perhaps many heli fliers are much more ready to "put down" other disciplines just because they aren't interested in it than the disciples of the other disciplines are.
