  • FF7 for training

Does the FF7 need the module in the back in order for it to work as the slave unit when buddying????? Or for using on Phoenix

I am trying to pick up a cheap transmitter so I can let the girlfriend have a go on one of my planks.

There is a cheap FF7 on fleabay but doesn't have the module. Will it do what I want??

The FF7 doesn't have a module in the same way that the FF9 does - i.e. it's built in - not removeable.

You can remove the crystal from it though - this is what I do when simming to make the battery pack last much longer. And yes, you can do the same thing on a buddy box hookup with the slave having no crystal in. It's only the master that transmits a signal.

      Cheers,

I had read that too, but the ad definetly shows pics of a field force 7 and the back end has a module type slot. Will steer away from that one. Seems a bit odd ball. going to end in about 5 hours if anyone else wants to take a look.

The FF7 on ebay is the old version Futaba have brought out a newer version without the module. You don’t need the module for the slave TX when using a buddy lead or while using the sim.

              Argh!
              That thing is ancient
I dread to think what the software is like on that thing?
              Avoid.

Maybe worth buying just for your sim. It will save wearing out a decent TX

                  I hadn't seen the 18quid delivery charge. I know it's old but it's not a brick!!

People really do extract the urine when it comes to postage on ebay stuff.
A Tx, wrapped in plenty of bubble wrap (from the pound shop - I forget how much it was ) and secured in a spare box - posted - should cost about a fiver all in.
Call it £6.50 and you're well covered.
Trying to make a few extra quid on postage really bugs me. Whats the point? It's not like it'll change your life having an extra fiver in your pocket!

I had one of those FF7s - it was great - well, maybe not GREAT!

So the programming was harder cos it doesnt have a proper display like modern Txes, but it worked fine and has quite a few functions for its age - I even had a little switch fitted to allow more model memories
If you wanted it for just a buddy box and a sim then I reckon it'd do ya, although it is heavy! and I wouldnt pay more than £15 for it LOL

i think that mechanically the old 7u super kicks the 7c's arse. it does almost everything the 7c does.

it doesnt have CCPM and only 4 model memories (upgradeable to 8) few minor bits like and pieces but nothing major.

IF you already have the old style ff7 (as you mention a module) then it has the round buddy plug?
Then you can buddy to hitec also, so a basic 4 ch hitec tx could be used for the buddy box if you want to widen your fleabay search.
