  • Titanium Linkages for Pro 450

These linkages are available from you know who - yep it's FastLads.

Why buy 'em? coz it allows you to make precise adjustments of pitch without having to take the linkage off.

It's a turnbuckle. How do you lock them?

I've been saying we should use buggy turnbuckles for pitch adjustment since I started this hobby. The only problem I could see is on a larger heli there is a chance that vibrations could cause the turnbuckle to undo...

It doesn't look like a turnbuckle, I think it's a solid rod and the key to it is the left hand thread on one end.

I used one on my tail servo control rod for my BeltCP/CopterX. Instead of pratting around finding the sweet spot for the servo, I just turned the turnbuckle either way to get it spot on. They are a bit brittle though.

Yes, often refered to as a turnbuckle

Yeah, I see what you're saying, the whole thing becomes a turnbuckle. I was thinking of the lump in the middle when the question of how to lock it was raised. (vibrations won't undue snug plastic links just as they don't tend to undue with standard links and rods)

I have these on my 450 FBL and they work brilliantly, can't believe Align don't ship the 450 with turnbuckles from the start as they are so much easier to set tracking etc and saves wear on ball links popping off/on all the time.

                    That is a turnbuckle

Brilliant for fine adjustments but I would also want to see a lock available. I know the standard links don't lock but if they rotate the overall length does not change (until it runs out of thread at one end)

Probably just me though, I use turnbuckles at work to rig flying controls and would have issues leaving one unlocked

Yeah I know what a turnbuckle is If the links don't move in flight from the positons they are set at I seriously doubt the rod will rotate on its own unless the links are very very lightly threaded on. Which is why, when the question of locking it was mentioned, I thought people were thinking the rod was threading into the middle bit, if you see what I mean.

I know, you are probably right. I think it is just me thinking 'Turnbuckle = locked after adjustment'

I have been using them for 20+ years on aircraft and have yet to leave one unlocked, to do so would probably result in a smoking hole in the ground. Just another leap I have to make between RC aircraft and real ones

Well, In the back of my mind I worry about links being able to slip off the ball and wonder why we dont have little proper ball joints securely fastened on, except that not being able to pop it out to make adjustments would be a hassle.

Yep I use to use them with my rc cars about 15 years ago, never came unlocked even after a few crashes.

Awesome idea, would have preffered them on the cyclics though tbh and I have never really had an issue with getting the Pro to track.
