I bought one today and enjoyed scanning through the site. One thing thats worrying me more than anything now are the issues with the batterys and charging.
What should I do about charging them? Using them and possibly upgrading them?
i wouldnt bother upgrading them... go out and buy 2 more. Theres no point in spending money on it IMO as there cheap and tatty really. Perfect for your first introduction though so dont be put off by me saying that. You'll probably find you'll now get the bug and want a bigger electric/nitro helicopter. Save your money for when that day comes. You can get the lipos for that model very cheap off a well known auction site ;-)
As for charging just use the quick charger you get with the medivac its suitable for them batteries. Like i say keep your money for later cuz ya gonna need it. Get yourself Phoenix simulator and a half descent Futaba/JR transmitter next. You could fly the Medivac with the new transmitter too. I flew mine with my Futaba 9CHP transmitter and it felt much more responsive.
Oh one more thing... have fun!

Ah yeah sorry if I didnt make myself completely clear, this is my first heli basically to catch the bug and to mess around with while I gather funds and research everything for my next heli. Probably a Nitro Raptor 50 something (been here a day ).
I meant upgrading the battery, maybe to something alot more reliable/last longer/charger/user friendly.
Also what are the real risks to overcharging/undercharging the battery?
Like i say dont bother upgrading it just buy a few of them.
As for the charging question... your charger will automatically switch to trickle charge to stop overcharing etc. You do have to be careful with lipos though as they can literally explode. Im sure someone will be along soon too tell you that in more detail.

One thing with the LIPO's is don't run them down beyond when the power starts to drop off. You'll know when that is as the heli will just about maintain a hover, then fade till it wont get off the ground any more.
At that time, (fading hover time) give it 5 mins 'rest' then stick it on charge. You'll get around 12-15 mins flying time with about an 80 min full charge.
As suggested, get another batt but let the motor cool between flights.
