  • All built ready to maiden tomorrow :)

Just finished building and ran it up slow speed on the living room carpet to check tracking which looked bob on to me?

I am dead chuffed and while I realise it won't be as tidy as those of you who are experienced, I like it

Need to set the pitch range and tweak it but apart from that I cannot see any reason why it is not ready to make it's first flight?

Just have to hope I don't total it tomorrow

i think the tail servo needs tipping over at a bit more of an angle to straighten out the run of the rod

          Cheers guys.

I know what you mean about the tail rod run. I dithered around for ages trying different positions and although it does have a curve to it now, it is not as bad as it looks in the photo's. I will have another look at it though and see if I can get it better.

          Thanks

Looking good. You might wanna consider removing the belt guide roller on the top of the tail housing too. I've heard it said that they eat drive belts and have removed mine from my 450SEv2.

I agree Mart, belts deffinately last longer without the top roller

                  Cheers.

I read about the top roller removal mod but when I trial fitted the boom I had to have it sat quite far back in the block to get a good tension. I was worried that removing something that adds a little tension would just make it worse?

I planned on having another look after the first couple of runs after the belt has stretched in and seeing if I could remove it then and still have good tension and good fitment of the boom in the block.

Good plan or will even a few runs eat the belt?

                      Hi Weebl.

                      That looks nice.

As has been pointed out, the tails rod needs a straight clean run. Any friction on the rod and you'll end up with tail wag, try to get that rod as straight as possible.

I also echo the comments on removing the the rear roller from the belt, I had a belt get caught and snap in flight. (luckily over long grass, so no damage done.) Since removing the roller I have had no further problems.

Good luck on your maiden flight. Have fun.

                        I was mate yes

Just got my Pitch Gauge from Orb through the post, I had a bit of positive pitch at mid stick, got rid of that on both blades, ran up and had to tweak the fine adjust on one blade to get the tracking back in. Now at mid stick 0° pitch. Bottom stick is -12° top stick is +11°

This is in stunt mode obviously (which I have no intention of using just yet ) in normal mode I have set the pitch curve to 40 - 45 - 50 - 75 - 100 which equates to -2° pitch at bottom stick as this is my first CP Heli and I have got into the bad habit of just chopping the throttle to bottom stick when my mSR or mCX is about to go in, and I don't want to slam it into the floor at stupid negative pitch angles when I inevitable just close the throttle out of habit (I am training myself out of this with Phoenix)

-2, 0, +10 is what I'm running at so you sound about right.

Good luck with the flight! Have you got TG fitted?

No training gear no, I don't have any (another thing my local shop does not stock)

I have taken on board what has been said about the tail run, I revisited the installation and mounted the servo on the other side of the mounts and that has straigtened it a bit. I have a piccy and a vid of the run which is uploading now. I reset travel limits etc after moving the servo and I can still hear a bit of buzzing towards the ends of travel but it is definately not binding at extremes of travel. It does not sound like the harsh buzz you get when the servo is bottomed out and I think it is just the servo trying to minutely adjust?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, if this is your first flight of a CP heli that is.
