  • Removing bearings from metal parts

    Hi,

I need to remove the bearings from a metal mixing arm in the head of my T600. Do I need to fire up the oven in the same way as engine rear bearings ? I tried boiling water but they did not budge. Not hot enough for long enough I think.

    cheers

Almost certainly the bearing has been stuck in with green loctite of some description. Heat from an electric paint stripper might be easier than the oven, but yes it is going to need heat to get the bearing out.

In the past I have put a dowel rod up against the bearing and then as I heat the object I gently tap down on the rod until the bearing pops out.

Yes the screw was a little difficult to get out so plenty of loctite around..

Are the bearings not seated in then.. can you just push them both through from one side ?

Yes it loks like they are seated. Sorry my example was not of a blade grip.

It looks like the one that goes up against the head needs to come out that way and the one inside needs to go out the other side. If you put a screwdriver against the inside one you should be able to tap round knocking it out little by little. It might even come out square by tapping the blade grip on a block of wood after heating it up. The other one can then be pushed out square.
