  • CC450 Arrrived!

Just got back in and the courier has left me a little present

Unpacked it and it all looks very nice and shiny

I am going to take the build and set up nice and slowly, and as a complete noob to building Helis I was wondering if anybody would be interested in a bit of a build/set up/first wobbly hover log from a newbie perspective? I twiddle spanners for a living so I am not a mechanical novice but this is something different and new to me. Ulterior motive is, if I detail how I have done something and the whole forum screams at me I have done it wrong I find out before it all lets go in the air

Ooh lots to play with there. Look forward to your build log.

Started off nice and slow, rubbed all the rough edges off the carbon fibre, which looks top notch by the way (bear in mind I have never seen a genuine Align 450 however I know what tidy carbon fibre should look like)

Was going to then strip the head and re-threadlock everything but ran into a brick wall because the keys to my garage, where all my tools are, have gone walkies Never mind, I am sure they will turn up.

Having just a basic screwdriver and a not particularly brilliant alan key I then decided to put the whole thing together in a dry run. Nothing is tight, or threadlocked but at least this way I know all the bits are there

Went together pretty well, only 2 bits of fettling required really, the main frame baseplate needed the 'clip' side bits trimming down so that they would fit and secure in the holes in the sideframes, and the holes in the boom supports where they attach to the frame needed opening up, apart from that it was just checking out the Align SEV2 manual and finding the bit that looked like it (the bags seemed to have all the bits and screws logically bundled but there were a few curve balls)

I got so far and then decided I might as well go the whole hog and see what it will look like built

Its difficult to start building and then put it down, for me once I get started I stay untill its done , so addictive just putting it together.

This is what I am worried about putting my 450 together... not started yet due to lack of sleep for the last few days but once I have caught up a bit I will make a start on mine
